A pregnant woman was told to leave the gym after her outfit was deemed inappropriate.

Taking to TikTok, Emi AKA @emiandandrew, bodybuilder who is currently five months pregnant, was allegedly told to leave a gym after her workout 'fit went against regulations at the facility.

The "awkward, uncomfortable encounter" occurred when she was approached by the owner that she could not work out in only a "sports bra" as it went against the rules of the gym, though Emi denied the claims and even attached a clip of her outfit, which shows her donning high-waisted leggings and a fitted, brown sports top which covered half of her protruding bump.

"Today I go to the gym like I normally would [and] I'm wearing like a tank top and leggings and basically I'm five months pregnant so I have a little bump," she started the video, which has now been viewed over 4.1 million times.

She went on to explain that the gym she uses is mostly for bodybuilders and most of the clients are men. On the walls, she said, there are images of competitive bodybuilders in bikinis and briefs.

She added that she didn't mind that because she feels "inspired" by that, as she used to be a competitor herself.

"When I re-signed up... they told me they don't allow sports bras," she continued, stating that she said it was "fine" at the time and that she didn't "need to wear [one]."

She then went on to state that she went to do her regular work out but she was being stared at by the "owner's wife."

The owner of the gym then walks up to her and allegedly says: "Listen, my wife has an issue with what you’re wearing right now. We don't allow sports bras."

She then rejected the idea that she was wearing a sports bra - because it was definitely a tank top - and apparently the owner agreed too, but his wife just wasn't having it.

"You're either going to have to leave or put on a top," Emi said she was told.

She then added that there were other girls wearing shorter tops than hers, which she had no problem with, but she felt "humiliated" that she was being singled out.

In the end, the owner suggested that maybe the TikToker didn't need a membership there.

Reflecting on the interaction, Emi said: "I was trying to be respectful but it was honestly pretty offensive. I don’t know, I thought it was the craziest thing."

Hundreds of people gathered in the comment section to express their thoughts on the matter with many slamming the gym for how they handled the situation.

"Who else instinctively rolled their eyes as soon as u heard 'owners wife' - it was a TANK TOP," wrote one user while another added: "She didn’t have a problem with what you were wearing. She had a problem with how gorgeous you are she's insecure."

A third stated: "Cancel that membership and leave a review with your picture in the outfit attached. That lady needs therapy if she thinks that’s an issue."

Another user even claimed it had happened to them writing: "Literally happened to me at the SAME gym I’ll tag you in my video with the messages."

And this user even suggested that discrimination may have been at play: "Am I the only person that feels like they were discriminating against you because you were pregnant and working out?"

I mean we're in 2024 and this type of thing is still happening to women? It's time to grow up.
