A video of a woman choosing to save a glass of champagne over a falling baby has divided the internet.

The viral clip shows the woman - who is believed to be from the US - holding an infant who is trying to reach for a champagne flute on a table.

Rather than moving the glass out of the way, she lets the baby grab the drink, which inevitably topples over. So, instead of saving the tot, the woman lets go of her hand that was supporting their back and tries to grab the drink without losing any of its precious contents.

But, this effort was unsuccessful as it quickly leads to the infant getting showered with bubbles and tumbling to the floor.

Watch the video below:

Footage of the incident was subsequently posted to Twitter with the caption: "When you've finally become an adult and have your priorities straight," where it has amassed 105.5K likes.

The clip sparked a fierce debate online, with some people slamming the woman for letting the child fall. However, others claimed that she did the right thing and that by grabbing the glass, she prevented a more severe injury from happening to the baby.

One of the woman's defenders wrote: "If that glass had broken then there was a chance of proper injuries. Kid will be fine because they fall all the time. I get it."

Another person interjected: "She probably did the right thing here tho. If the baby took the glass down with them, it would’ve shattered in their face. I’d rather have my baby recover from a slight fall rather than cuts caused by glass."

A third remarked: "That was the right move," while a fourth user quipped: "That baby had no business touching that glass."

Meanwhile, one user criticized the woman, writing: "She shouldn't have grandkids at all if alcohol is within reach to a barely walking baby."

A second person blasted: "You know the baby wouldn't have fallen if she didn't LET GO TO PICK UP THE GLASS. She also chose to have glass around that baby. You act like this shit was calculated. She has garbage instincts. You realize this meme is about having terrible priorities right?"

A third critic shared: "Never would've happened if the glass hadn't of been in reach of the child," while one last user added: "Wonder what she checked for damage first - the baby or the rug?"

Do you guys think the woman was wrong for saving the champagne instead the tumbling baby? Share your thoughts!
