Gypsy Rose in car crash just weeks after ex-fiancé’s death
Gypsy Rose Blanchard found herself in the news once again following a traffic accident in southeast Louisiana. State authorities confirmed that the 35-year-old was involved in a vehicle collision in Terrebonne Parish over the weekend.
The incident resulted in minor property damage, and officials reported that no injuries occurred and no arrests were made at the scene, according to the Louisiana State Police Department.
Reports indicate that blinding glare from the sun contributed to the crash at a local intersection. Attention grew after a local resident shared details online, claiming to have been on the receiving end of the hit.
"2026 is wild. Just got sideswiped by Gypsy Rose. FML," the driver posted on social media shortly after the incident.
Blanchard previously served time after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the 2015 death of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.
She gained freedom in December 2023, following years of legal battles that generated extensive public attention, documentary projects, and television specials.
Tragic loss in Louisiana
This latest road incident comes on the heels of personal tragedy. Her former fiancé, Ken Urker, passed away on October 1 inside his Raceland home on what was his 34th birthday.
Law enforcement officers conducted a welfare check when Urker failed to show up for work, leading to the discovery. Authorities located narcotics equipment along with a firearm inside the residence. Blanchard later stated that Urker died from a drug overdose.
The former couple shared a one-year-old daughter named Aurora Raina. Reflecting on their relationship, Blanchard recounted a lighthearted moment from September when she decided to play a prank on him.
"During one of our exchanges, I decided to surprise him with Burger King," Blanchard recalled to Page Six.
"I pretended to be a DoorDash driver and left his food outside his door." She added, "Looking back, I'm grateful that one of my final memories of Ken was something lighthearted, thoughtful, and filled with kindness."
Clarifying co-parenting details
To address public rumors regarding tension between them, Blanchard shared text exchanges from before his death. The messages revealed that both parties wished to establish custody guidelines without external legal intervention.
"There's no need to involve lawyers unless you're contesting the agreement," Urker wrote, adding, "It's not necessary."
He reiterated that position in a follow-up message, writing, "The only reason you would get lawyers involved is if you or I don't agree to the arrangement we currently have.
