Celebs from across the world jetted to London this weekend to watch the finals of one of the world’s most prestigious tennis tournaments, Wimbledon, but one A-lister created more headlines than the champion himself.
Actor and singer Jennifer Lopez stole the show with a jaw-dropping outfit that went viral for all the wrong reasons. J-Lo sat next to British heartthrob Tom Hiddleston, sporting a head-to-toe custom curation by Ralph Lauren. The look featured a tight neutral-toned sleeveless wrap dress that accentuated her curves, paired with a matching leather and linen bag.
However, it was her standout accessory that truly captured the internet's attention: a dramatic, hemp-blend wide-brim sun hat. As the UK experienced an intense heatwave, fashion critics and tennis fans mocked her huge hat and teased that she blocked the view of the centre court for everyone in the stands behind her.
The singer shared pictures of her day on Instagram, captioning the post: "Tea time & tennis", and it racked up millions of views within hours, but the comment section was flooded by trolls calling her look “inappropriate”.
While Wimbledon is best known for its all-white dress code for players, the tournament also has rules for spectators covering items that may obstruct other attendees.
In a list of officially prohibited items, point 5.1.10 bans “oversized hats or other garments which could, in the reasonable opinion of the AELTC, restrict or interrupt the view or enjoyment of other Attendees.”
While her neutral wrap dress and stiletto sandals certainly stuck to the rules, it seems she completely ignored the headwear warning with her comically wide-brimmed hat, sparking people to flock to social media to sympathize with the spectators who sat behind her.
One person said: “Imagine how p***** off you could be at Wimbledon, sitting close to Jennifer Lopez with a fan, and a hat that could cast a shadow over the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.”
Another person hit out at the Jenny From the Block singer, writing: “The hat to draw attention and look at me, look at me. Narcissism at her best.”
A third person joked: “Solidarity with the guy who spent £3,000 to see Jennifer Lopez’s hat.”
In response, another X user added: “This type of hat is inappropriate for such events! You should do your homework, lady!”
However, eagle-eyed tennis fans would have noticed that Lopez did eventually take her eccentric hat off to reveal her signature sleek honey blonde blow-dry underneath, and those in the stalls surrounding her sighed with relief.

A woman is going viral for her not-so-subtle reaction to a professional tennis player taking his shirt off. The tennis player in question is Feliciano Lopez and the unidentified woman's thirsty response to seeing the athlete's bare chest took place at the US Open.

While other tennis fans were keen to see Lopez take on opponent Taylor Fritz; for this particular woman, the 37-year-old removing his sweat-drenched shirt and replacing it with a clean one, was a clear highlight.
The now-viral clip shows the woman glancing in the tennis star's direction - her gaze lingering as he begins to remove his shirt. She then takes out her phone and proceeds to film the short-lived - but evidently captivating - moment.
What didn't escape our notice was that another woman - presumably a friend of the thirsty lady - is also fixated on Lopez during the enticing shirt swap.
However, unlike her eager beaver friend, she manages to look entirely uninterested - as though she were only looking because the handsome Spaniard happened to be in her eye line.
But sadly for anyone who'd hoped they might be in with a chance with Lopez, he's currently in a relationship with Sandra Gago - the pair are reportedly engaged.
In any case, the clip was posted to Twitter by user @nomatchwindyno, who wrote: "Blonde woman, top left. She is all of us," alongside a laughing-crying emoji.
But as it turns out, shirtless photos of Feliciano Lopez aren't too hard to come by. He's even posted a couple of them to his Instagram page:

Serena Williams wore a tutu to the first match of the US Open on Monday in a not-so-subtle dig at the French Tennis Federation, who condemned her for wearing her now-iconic catsuit - an ensemble which, though sartorially striking, had a practical side.
The tennis player has since explained that the Black Panther-inspired outfit was helpful in preventing blood clots after she had pulmonary embolism after giving birth to her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, back in September of 2017. After Williams wore the catsuit to this year's French Open, the President of the French Tennis Federation, Bernard Giudicelli, asserted that the ensemble "will no longer be accepted", and that "one must respect the game and the place."
While former tennis champ, Billie Jean King, promptly came to Williams' defence, saying that the "policing of women's bodies must end", William's approach, though lighter in tone, was no less powerful.
Now, it's been reported that a French tennis player was slapped with a violation at the US Open for taking off her shirt to readjust it while on the court.

The tournament, which was held in Queens, New York, on Tuesday, saw temperatures reach upwards of 96 degrees, with a heat index making it feel as though it was over 100 degrees at times.
The players were given a 10-minute break to cool down and rehydrate, and French tennis player, Alizé Cornet took the opportunity to put on a fresh shirt. After returning to court, she realised that her shirt was on backwards. She quickly took off the shirt and readjusted it, prompting the umpire, Christian Rask, to slap her with a code violation.
Women's Tennis Association rules state that female players are only allowed to remove their shirts when off-court. No such rules apply for male players, who were spotted taking their shirts off frequently on Tuesday to deal with the heat.

Cornet, who was playing Johanna Larsson, was understandably surprised by the penalty, which was handed out at the umpire's discretion.
The people of the internet were quick to point out the double standard at play here. "So Williams can’t cover up her whole body and Cornet can’t change her shirt on the court. What y’all want, man?" one Twitter user wrote, while another corroborated "US Tennis Open Alizé Cornet take top off because it was back to front and she’s been penalised for breaking the rules. Cornet subsequently lost the match to Larsson.
A number of players withdrew from their matches due to the heat on Tuesday, and over 20 spectators required medical attention.

Tennis stars have spoken out following the implementation of a new underwear rule for female players at Wimbledon.
There have already been some major victories following the start of the first round of the tournament in the United Kingdom after it was announced that the board would be relaxing its strict all-white dress code this year.
As per the official Wimbledon website, all competitors are now expected to be dressed in "suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white* and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court surround."
The asterisks give further details stating that the "exception" is "provided for female players who are allowed to wear solid, mid/dark-colored undershorts provided they are no longer than their shorts or skirt."
And the news has been warmly welcomed by prominent figures who are set to be competing this year including Coco Gauff and Heather Watson.
Speaking to Sky News, Gauff, who is the 7th seed, opened up about her experiences with the uniform at Wimbledon, as well as her newfound relief due to the change.
"I was on my period last year at Wimbledon and it was very stressful," she said.
"You have period underwear to help you but it's still in the back of your mind. Sometimes when you go to the bathroom, you're supposed to use the bathroom but sometimes I would go to check nothing was showing.
"I think it will remove a lot of stress for me and it's very nice it's being talked about."
The 19-year-old star also recalled an embarrassing on-court incident.
"It happened to me at another tournament and it was noticed by the referee before anyone really saw," she said. "It will make all the world of difference and I'm glad it's not a taboo subject anymore."
Watson also spoke out on the issue, telling the outlet that she was "happy" to hear about the new rule.
"When Wimbledon announced about the undershorts I was so happy because it makes such a difference," she said. "I speak openly about my period, I don't think it's a taboo subject and I would love for people to talk about it more.
"Last year I went on the pill to stop myself bleeding because I knew I had to wear white undershorts and I didn't want any embarrassment," she continued. "We're running around sweating, doing the splits on court. This year I knew my period was going to be during Wimbledon again so I'm very happy I won't have to do the same thing as last year."
The new rule comes after there were multiple protests about "period anxiety" back in 2022.
Campaigners from Address The Dress Code staged a protest outside the main gate over the British tournament's all-white clothing policy, wearing white skirts with red undershorts and carrying signs that read: "About bloody time."
