Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon have been spotted holding hands just a short time after she divorced Ben Affleck.

As widely reported, the 55-year-old singer filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, on Tuesday, August 20, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

According to TMZ, Lopez listed April 26, 2024, as the official date of separation in the court documents.

A source close to the singer told PEOPLE: “She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken... The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

Legal filings indicate both Lopez and Affleck will need to share financial information, including income, expenses, properties, and debts, within the next 60 days.

In the midst of all this, Lopez has been spotted holding hands with Matt Damon, Affleck's close friend.

The pair were seen sharing a deep conversation at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The pair were seen having a private chat during an afterparty celebrating their new movie, Unstoppable, which premiered on Friday.

Lopez stars in the film, which was produced by Damon and Affleck’s company, Artists Equity.

An eyewitness at the event told PEOPLE that Lopez, 55, and Damon, 53, spent over 20 minutes talking at The Ritz-Carlton’s EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace. "They began talking and had a long, deep conversation," the source revealed.

Their discussion reportedly began when Lopez joined Damon and his wife, Luciana Damon, at an outdoor table. Notably absent from the TIFF premiere was Affleck, 52.

This marked Lopez’s first red carpet-appearance since she filed for divorce from Affleck.

While Lopez and Damon appear to be on good terms, the actor has also shown public support for his longtime friend Affleck during the high-profile split, per Page Six.

Days after Lopez’s divorce filing, Damon was seen having dinner with Affleck, Luciana, and their daughters at the Los Angeles restaurant Toscana.

The end of "Bennifer" comes as a shock to fans who had celebrated the rekindling of their romance, nearly two decades after the couple first dated.

Lopez and Affleck originally became engaged in 2002 after starring together in the film Gigli but called off their relationship in 2004.

They reunited in April 2022 and held a surprise wedding in Las Vegas just three months later.

In a December 2022 interview with Vogue, Lopez shared her pride in taking Affleck’s last name, saying: “We’re husband and wife. I’m proud of that. I don’t think that’s a problem.”

She added that while people would continue to call her Jennifer Lopez, her legal name was “Mrs. Affleck because we’re joined together.”
