Five children have tragically been killed in a house fire in Arizona after reportedly being left home alone.

The incident occurred in the 400 block of Anna Circle in Bullhead City in north-western Arizona near the Arizona-Nevada border at around 5PM on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the fierce blaze at the two-story duplex but the young victims, who were all aged between two and 13 years old, were unable to escape.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released, but police confirmed they were aged two, four, five, 11, and 13, with four of them being siblings while the fifth was a relative.

Emily Fromelt, spokesperson for the Bullhead City Police Department, confirmed that all the children were related, with four of them being siblings and all five lived in the duplex, according to the Daily Mail.

Police added that there were no adults at home at the time of the devastating fire and there were no survivors.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown and it is being investigated by the city's police and fire departments, as well as the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The statement added: "This is an ongoing investigation being handled by the Bullhead City Police Department, with assistance from the Bullhead City Fire Department, Lake Havasu City Fire Department and ATF Fire Investigators."

Pictures and videos shared by eyewitnesses showed firefighters attempting to control the blaze as smoke billowed around them.

Other angles showed the charred window frames of the home as the fire blazed out of the roof of the property.

There is currently no further comment on the circumstances of the fire, with the investigation being currently underway.

In August, six people were found dead in another tragic house fire when a home exploded in western Pennsylvania, destroying three structures and damaging at least a dozen more.

The explosion happened shortly before 10.30AM on August 12, and the bodies of four adults and one child were recovered, according to Plum Borough Police Chief Lanny Conley.

Footage of the explosion and the aftermath saw debris flying through the air and coating the surrounding area in Plum, near Pittsburgh.

In September it was determined that the explosion originated inside the home as the Allegheny County fire marshal’s office ruled out any potential outside factors including pipelines and wells, as well as other utilities.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, however, the property is being released back to its owners according to a press release.

The house and two others nearby were so badly damaged in the blast that hey must be demolished, and 10 others were deemed not safe for residents to return to in the weeks afterward.

All of the victims were found at the home, with officials stating one was found outside a garage, four were in the basement, while the sixth was found in the back yard and was taken to a nearby trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries days later.
