A member of the King's Guard sent a little girl running away in fear with his very stern words.

In a clip that has racked up over 4.1 million views on TikTok, the startled child can be seen rushing out of the guard's path as he marches toward her.

The guard - who is a member of the King's Life Guard at Buckingham palace - strides from underneath an archway and out into a courtyard with his sword held up.

As he approaches a little girl - who is standing obliviously in his path - the guard barely breaks his stride and yells the iconic "Stand clear" order.

His proclamation almost frightens the life out of the child, who sprints out of his way as he continues to march through the courtyard.

Unsurprisingly, the guard's aggressive behavior has sparked controversy on TikTok. Many viewers took the comments section to question whether he needed to be so stern with a young child.

"Did he really need to scare the little one like that," one person commented, while another wrote: "Regardless what their job is. That's mean and uncalled for."

"He didn’t have to scare her! Just say [please] move," a third person pointed out.

However, other people were on the guard's side. They reminded fellow viewers that the king's guards are trained soldiers with duties to perform - not tourist attractions - and argued that the little girl's parents should have kept her out of the guard's way.

"These guys are not a public attraction there carry out a duty," one person wrote, with another agreeing: "Why don't people understand he's doing his job and not there to entertain tourists."

"Parents should’ve told the kid to stay close, it's not exactly a well-kept secret that the king's guard are scary and shout," a third chimed in, with a fourth adding: "Remember it’s not Disney land the parents are to blame."

The King's Life Guard is a regiment of mounted cavalry troopers responsible for protecting the monarch's official royal residencies. Alongside the Kings' Guard, they have held this responsibility since the reign of King Charles II in the 1600s.
