Now this is taking mommy issues to a whole new level.

A man from Poland has been arrested after he was accused of digging up his mother's buried body and keeping her mummified corpse on his sofa for 13 years.

The 76-year-old, known only as Marian L, was dobbed in by a relative who noticed the corpse as he entered his apartment on February 22. The rotting body of his mother, Jadwiga L, was laying on top of newspapers that dated all the way back to 2009.

Not only did he keep his mom's body there, but it was also alleged that he would talk to her as he sat watching TV.

As per Australian news outlet 7 News, an official statement released by Wodzisław Śl? ski police stated that they received a call at around 10.20 AM from the apartment on Rogozina St in Radlin.

"The owner of the apartment, a 76-year-old resident of the Wodzisław district, was also on-site. He was taken by paramedics to the hospital," Wodzisław Śl? ski police said.

It was reported that the body was "well preserved," according to Wodzisław District Prosecutor Marcin Felsztyński who explained that there was a "very good degree of preservation of the skin integuments with the simultaneous lack of insect feeding and the lack of skeletal signs."

"The smell of mothballs was noticeable," he added.

Local news outlet Fakt reported that as the man was being taken away from his home by paramedics, he kept telling them that he had to say goodbye to his mom.

At first, there was some speculation about whose body the man had dug up but following an investigation that concluded on March 22, it was confirmed that it was in fact Marian’s mother's corpse.

Police examined her burial place in a parish cemetery, which was only 300 meters away from the 76-year-old's home, and realized that she was missing. Gliwice District Prosecutor’s Office prosecutor Joanna Smorczewska confirmed the news, adding that Jadwiga was originally buried in 2010, aged 95.

As per 7 News, it is understood Marian dug up his mother’s corpse soon after her burial and took it to his apartment, where chemicals were used to embalm it.

Speaking of the 76-year-old, locals told news outlets that he was a "loner" and they barely noticed his presence in the community.

"Weird, I've lived here for so many years, I don't know if I've ever seen him," said one woman. "Everyone knows each other, but nothing is known about him, only that he treated night as day. He would go out in the evenings, get on his bike, and go somewhere. And that's how it seems all my life."

She continued: "My husband is from here, he said that when they were children, they were afraid of him. When it was late and they saw that he was going out, that he was riding that bike, they would run and hide."

Another added that he would root around "dumpsters and collect things that people had thrown away."

The man was later charged with interfering with a corpse, with Smorczewska adding: "At present, however, due to his health condition, due to the fact that he has been in the hospital for over a month, he will be examined by expert psychiatrists who will give an opinion on his state of mind."

Jadwiga L will be laid to rest in another burial ceremony.
