Police seized a mother's e-scooter after she took her child to school on it and the cops have been ridiculed online.

There's a handful of ways to transport a child to school - the classic yellow school bus, driving them yourself, or even walking if it's close enough.

But e-scooters have become all the rage lately, with some choosing to buy their own or using the rented ones that are dotted around cities across the globe.

The bizarre incident involving the mother and her child took place in Stroud, Gloucestershire, in the UK after police were informed by concerned citizens.

Taking to Twitter, Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Specialist Operations Unit said: "Concerns were raised regarding a female using an e scooter to transport a young child on a daily basis.

"@GlosPolSpecOps OT61 attended and observed 4 yr old being transported in this way and Vehicle seized. Thanks to the public for making us aware."

Along with the statement, the police also uploaded a video of the mother on the e-scooter with her child at an average speed of around six mph (9.65km/h)

Check out footage of the incident:

It would seem that social media users didn't take too kindly to the post, with some believing that this was a waste of police time.

One person said: "As much as I dislike them, this is a stupid post. The speed the mother is going would merely graze them and that's even if they would ever injure at 5-7mph. I suggest, you post about the dangerous use of these scooters and not publicly shame a mother and daughter for all to see."

A second person sarcastically filmed his three-year-old daughter cycling down an alley, and added: "3 year old caught using bike on pavement (sidewalk)! To get to the swimming pool! On a daily basis this. I’ve filmed her to report it. Arrest her please and confiscate the bike. Also arrest me for putting her in such extreme danger. Must be transported in Range Rover going forward."

A third person raised what seems to be a very valid point by posting a stock image of a mother and child on a bicycle which nobody ever bats an eyelid at.

They stated: "Although I can see the obvious safety issues with transporting a child in this manner, can you agree that this method of transportation is also downright dangerous and always has been?"

What are your thoughts on the matter? Should the police have stopped the mother or were they wasting their own time?
