Prince Harry will be heading back to the States after flying to the UK to see his father King Charles III following the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

On Monday (February 5), Buckingham Palace revealed in a statement that the 75-year-old King had already begun treatment after the cancer was discovered during a recent medical procedure for benign prostate enlargement.

"During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," the statement read.

The King will suspend public engagements during treatment but will continue with state business. He won't be handing over his constitutional role as head of state.

The Palace shared that his majesty is "grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure," adding: "He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer," the statement concluded.

Doctors have assured the public that it is not prostate cancer, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the concerning news. However, King Charles has commenced a series of treatments, leading medical advisors to advise him to postpone public engagements for the foreseeable future.

Prince Harry flew more than 5,000 miles on Tuesday (February 6) from Los Angeles to London after his father informed him of his devastating diagnosis. It was the pair's first formal meeting in person since the late Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.

It was reported that he arrived at the royal residence at 2.42PM before spending around 45 minutes with the King. After their brief meeting, the monarch and Camilla were driven to Buckingham Palace where a helicopter was waiting to take them back to Sandringham in Norfolk.

A palace source claimed to The Times (obtained by BBC) that Harry and Charles' meeting was short because the King was exhausted from a procedure on Monday.

But they confirmed that his majesty and Queen Camilla, 76, were "coping magnificently," adding: "If you didn't know what was the matter, you wouldn't have any idea that he had any condition at all."

The Duke of Sussex is not believed to have seen his brother Prince William or sister-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, who is recovering from her abdominal surgery.

He is now making his way back to his Montecito home in California, where he will be reunited with his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

Harry and Meghan will then travel to Canada next week for an event to mark a year until the Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler, according to Daily Mail.
