Jay went missing on the morning of Monday, June 17 after calling his friend Lucy, informing her that he was lost in a remote area, thirsty, and his phone battery was at 1 percent.

He was last seen on Sunday, June 16 after attending the NRG music festival in Tenerife with his friends.

The 19-year-old was reported missing after walking alone into the mountainous area of Rural de Teno Park, near the village of Masca.

Jay had reportedly been staying at an Airbnb rental apartment with two people he met at the NRG music festival.

Since his disappearance, urgent searches involving Civil Guard officers, firefighters, and mountain rescuers have been underway in the vast area.

Jay's loved ones now believe there may have been a sighting of him in the village of Santiago del Teide, about 7km from Masca, per the Manchester Evening News.

The family and friends reported that an image surfaced showing a male walking past a church in Santiago del Teide around 6:00PM on Monday, roughly ten hours after Jay was last heard from. They believe the blurry image could resemble Jay.

The Civil Guard has not confirmed whether this sighting is being investigated.

Rescue crews concentrated their efforts on Friday around the 2,000-foot Masca ravine, close to Jay's last known location in the desolate Teno Nature Reserve.

The search has included police, firefighters, volunteers, and sniffer dogs scanning the rugged area known locally as "the badlands."

Speaking from Tenerife, Debbie, Jay's mom, revealed that a witness claimed to have seen Jay with two men about ten hours after he was last seen on Monday morning, per the Sun.

The sighting allegedly took place 3.5 miles away in Santiago del Teide.

"Someone has come forward to say they saw someone who they thought was Jay walking back down the road sat on a bench," Debbie told Mail Online.

"He was with two men looking a bit worse for wear, and they were by a church. This guy has come forward and told the police about it and they are looking into it. We don't know if it was Jay for sure, but it's a start."

Debbie, 55, has been in Tenerife since Tuesday, assisting with the search for her son. She criticized the investigation for not allowing British police to contribute.

On Friday, Lancashire Constabulary offered to assist Spain's Guardia Civil in their efforts to find Jay, but local police declined the offer, insisting they have the necessary resources to locate him.
