A restaurant owner had an amusing reply to a disappointed customer who had given their restaurant a one-star review, explaining what really happened that night. Last weekend, a woman only described as Chloe A, took to review website TripAdvisor to express her displeasure after a restaurant visit gone wrong.

Titling her one-star review "Unreasonable", Chloe said in her review that the hostility towards her party at an eatery known as the Hobgoblin was apparent from the beginning. She claimed that the group was branded as "too drunk", but argues that they were sober upon entering the restaurant.

"The staff good a disliking to use [sic] the second we walked in. We are a group of 5 who haven’t seen us since uni. They told us we were too drunk despite not having any alcohol before entering the establishmst [sic]. This pub clearly has an issue with happy people."

In response to Chloe's review, however, the owner of the Hobgoblin, located in Bristol in the west of England, refuted Chloe's scathing appraisal. Instead, the owner - known only as James - responded with his own version of events that took place that evening.

"Hi Chloe, how's the head this morning?" James began in his reply, before proceeding to say what he remembered from the evening: "I'd be surprised if you can actually remember your behaviour last night so, just in case it's a little foggy, let's have a recap, shall we?"

"Although you were initially served a round of drinks, after you stumbled away from the bar and barged into another customer, dropping your drinks on the floor, we began to realise that you weren't *entirely* sober. This assessment was further strengthened when you returned to the bar, aggressively demanding that your spilt drinks be replaced for free. You were refused."

"In the cold light of this morning these were rather obviously the angry ravings of someone well in their cups," said James, asserting that Chloe then became aggressive, threatening staff and claiming to be a police officer, saying that she would come back with senior officers for allegedly infringing on her human rights.

"A number of other customers commented that your behaviour was inappropriate, and you reduced the member of bar staff to tears. Once we had discussed what had happened, we decided that frankly it would be best if you all moved on and we informed you that we wouldn't be serving you any further."

According to James, Chloe then doubled down on her threat to bring the Hobgoblin up on human rights violations, demanding the names of staff who had refused to serve her and claiming she would bring legal action against the workers, who James said had become visibly upset with Chloe's behaviour.

James finishes his reply by encouraging Chloe's threat of legal action. "I'm really not sure [James' response] paints you in a particularly flattering light either way and I am completely comfortable with how you were dealt with last night," he said in the response, and asks for an apology from the unhappy customer.
