Authorities identified the victims as parents Mark Humiston, 43, Sarah Humiston, 42, and their three children: Katheryn, seven, Joshua, nine, and Benjamin, 13, CNN reported.

An 11-year-old girl, who was living on the property and has not been named in documents, escaped the horror by playing dead after the suspect allegedly killed her younger sister, as reported by NBC News.

The young victim was shot in the hand and neck but survived. She escaped through a window and ran to a neighbor’s home, where she phoned the police and revealed that the alleged shooter was her 15-year-old brother.

She also claimed that her brother most likely used their father’s handgun as he was the only one of her siblings who knew the code to the lockbox where the firearm was kept.

Minutes earlier, the 11-year-old's brother contacted 911 to carry out one final act after the murderous rampage.

The teenager told the police that his other brother, who was killed, fatally shot the family members after he was caught watching p*rnography the previous evening.

The accused teen killer also attempted to stage the crime scene to appear as if his brother “placed” a gun in his sibling's hand.

The young girl received medical treatment at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was discharged on Tuesday (October 12). She is now in the care of a family member.

Meanwhile, her brother remains in custody under a court order, barring him from contacting his surviving sister.

The teen has now been charged with five counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder with a firearm enhancement.

Prosecutors formally requested the teen’s case to be moved to adult court. If convicted and charged in an adult court, he could be sentenced to 25 years to life with a statutory presumption of release after 25 years.

But if he is found guilty and his case remains in juvenile court, he could be held until age 25 without further sanctions.

Horrified neighbors in the area described the victims as “so sweet and polite” and the killings as “unfathomable," per Fox 13.

They told the publication that the five kids could be seen swimming, fishing, and boating from the water’s edge off the beach of their lakeside home all summer.

“I’m shocked,” one person shared. “I kept bursting into tears. I keep seeing the faces of the children, I don’t know the details or anything, but I know something terrible has happened there.”

King County Council member Sarah Perry called the shooting “a terrible situation", adding: “My heart aches for the lives lost and all who are struggling to make sense of this loss right now."

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.
