Nathan Larson, a 37-year-old accountant from Charlottesville, Virginia, is running as an independent candidate for Congress. According to the Huffington Post, he has also admitted to being a pedophile, and has even bragged about raping his ex-wife. If you think that was bad enough, it somehow gets even worse.
In a phone call with the HuffPost, he confirmed he had created the now-defunct websites incelocalypse.today and suiped.org - chat rooms where violent misogynists and pedophiles gather. He was contacted after it was revealed his campaign website shared an IP address with these forums, before they were terminated by their domain host earlier this week.
When he was asked whether or not he was a pedophile, he said:
"It’s a mix of both. When people go over the top there’s a grain of truth to what they say.
"A lot of people are tired of political correctness and being constrained by it. People prefer when there’s an outsider who doesn’t have anything to lose and is willing to say what’s on a lot of people’s minds."
In his campaign manifesto, he cites Adolf Hitler as a "white supremacist hero", hoping to protect "benevolent white supremacy" and legalise incestuous marriage and child pornography. The manifesto also urges for Congress to repeat the Violence Against Women Act, claiming that "we need to switch to a system that classifies women as property, initially of their fathers and later of their husbands".
Using the pseudonyms Leucosticte and Lysander, Larson often participated in his own forums, he confirmed to the Huffington Post. On the platform, he wrote such horrific statements as:
“Why doesn’t every pedo just focus on making money so they can get a pedo-wife and then either impregnate her with some f***toys or adopt some f***toys? That would accommodate both those who are and aren’t into incest. And of course, the adoption process lets you pick a boy or a girl.”
One one of the sites, he identified as a "hebephilic rapist," admitting that he had previously raped his ex-wife. Larson has a three-year-old daughter, who is currently living with relatives after he relinquished his parental rights during a custody battle. His ex-wife got a restraining order against him in 2015, and later committed suicide.
While there are no posts where he has explicitly stated to have engaged in sexual activity with minors, he has frequently expressed desire for children, including his own daughter. In the aforementioned call with HuffPost, he claimed that he had committed no crimes, insisting that the word 'pedophile' is "just a label" and that it is perfectly normal for men to be attracted to underage women.
He even had a 3,300-word essay published on incelocalypse, titled 'Here's How to Psyche Yourself Up to Feel Entitled to Rape', in which he tells other users, "Don't forget: feminism is the problem, and rape is the solution". During the HuffPost call, he explained that the removal of his websites was an attack on his freedom of speech, but he will seek to have them hosted on another domain in the future.
He first ran for Congress in 2008 as an "anarcho-capitalist". Later that year, he sent a letter to the Secret Service threatening to assassinate the president, landing him in prison for 14 months and barring him from campaigning for public office.
However, Virginia restored voting and other civil rights to thousands of felons in 2016, allowing Larson to run for office again. He tried and failed in his campaign to be on Virginia's House of Delegates District 31, and is now seeking a seat on the 10th Congressional District.
Another one of his sites, Nathania.org, which has since been removed, featured posts such as 'Advantages of Father-Daughter Incest', 'The Justifiability of an Incel’s Kidnapping a Girl and Keeping Her as His Rape-Slave for Sex and Babymaking', and 'A Man Should Be Allowed to Choke His Wife to Death as Punishment for Cutting Her Hair Short Without Permission, or Other Acts of Gross Insubordination'.
In another post, titled 'Let's Define What Rape Is', he wrote:
"Women are objects, to be taken care of by men like any other property, and for powerful men to insert themselves into as it pleases them, and as they believe will be in women’s own interests. In most cases, their interests are aligned, as long as the man is strong.
"Female sex-slaves actually get a much better deal than animals, because in most cases, they are allowed to reproduce, unlike animals raised for meat or companionship.”
However, Larson doesn't believe that any of these violent beliefs will cause him to lose many votes. "People are open-minded," he explained. "A lot of people who disagreed with someone like Trump… might vote for them anyway just because the establishment doesn’t like them."
I'd like to think that if there's one thing that Republicans and Democrats can agree on, it's that this man shouldn't get one single vote.
