The body of a Russian Instagram influencer has been found knifed to death, and stuffed into a suitcase in her rented apartment in Moscow.

24-year-old Ekaterina Karaglanova, who boasted more than 85,000 followers on Instagram, was discovered dead in her home by her parents after they became concerned after she stopped making contact with them. Her shocked family called an ambulance, but she was declared dead on arrival.

Karaglanova, who had recently completed a medical degree where she specialised in dermatology, had had her throat slit and sustained a number of other knife wounds.

Police claim that they suspect jealousy is a possible motive in her murder, and have CCTV footage of an ex-boyfriend visiting her at home mere days before her untimely death.

The current whereabouts of her former partner are currently unknown. Police have allegedly arrested an unidentified man in connection with the homicide, but whether this person is Karaglanova's ex-boyfriend is also unknown.

Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets reports that Karaglanova had recently begun a new relationship with a 52-year-old man, and had been planning a trip to the Netherlands for her birthday.

Marina Nikitina, a friend of Karaglanova's, told local network Ren TV: "Recently I noticed that she had changed a lot. There was information that somebody did not like her. She posted, 'Someone is badly interested in my private life.'"

In addition to her studies at the prestigious Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Karaglanova also wrote her own travel blog, and was a beauty pageant contestant.

Her last Instagram post was taken on the Greek island of Corfu, accompanied by the caption "[I like to] travel often, but in each country, I spend no more than three to five days."
