Authorities made the grim discovery of a newborn baby inside a porta-potty at a music festival in Michigan over the weekend.
Police officers have asked that witnesses come forward to help them in their ongoing investigation.
It was reported that the newborn's body was discovered by an unsuspecting worker who was left horrified after carrying out maintenance checks at the Electric Forest campgrounds in Michigan.
The music festival started on Thursday (June 25) and featured several EDM DJs, taking place at Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury.
Police announced the discovery of the remains on the festival's final day, Sunday (June 28), and issued an appeal for attendees to report anything unusual they encountered.
They also did not release any additional information about the incident, including the baby's exact age, but clarified that there was no immediate danger to the public.
Taking to X, the Michigan State Police stated: "Michigan State Police can confirm that the body of a neonate was found in a portable restroom in the camping area at the Electric Forest festival Sunday morning.
"The body was discovered by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance.
"This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no further information to share at this time and there is no known threat to the public."
They went on: "The Michigan State Police continue to investigate the discovery of a deceased neonate found Sunday morning in the camping area at the Electric Forest Festival.

“The Michigan State Police continue to investigate this tragic event if you can assist in any way.
“HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well.”
