We've all been put in an awkward position by people expecting a big tip. But one Grubhub driver's reaction to a 25% tip was so cruel that it left a disabled customer unable to eat their meal.

Freelance New Mexico artist Hunter took to TikTok to share her shocking experience with a Grubhub deliver driver, who left her food somewhere where she - a wheelchair user - physically couldn't reach it.

In a clip shared with her followers, Hunter - who goes by @lizardqween on the platform - explained the ordeal and hit out at the company for discriminating against disabled customers.

"When people talk about disability discrimination, this is kind of what they're referencing," the incurable Leukemia survivor began by stating.

She went on to explain how she ordered some food from Grubhub - but that when it arrived, she received a message from her driver reading: "Tip your driver’s better. Enjoy your food."

The package had been left out on the driveway where Hunter couldn't reach it, so she responded: "I'm in a wheelchair and can't get my food now you a**hole. I tipped above 25%. Don't like it, don't take the order."

"I ended up having to wait an hour until my caregiver came home until I could eat," she explained, before going on to describe how when she approached Grubhub they didn't think it was that "big on a problem".

"So I'm hoping that we can spread some awareness here as to how this is discriminatory, and hopefully things like this never happen again," she concluded.

Unsurprisingly, the shocking story sparked outrage on TikTok, racking up over 3 million views. But the story didn't end there. In a follow-up video Hunter described her later interactions with the food delivery company on Twitter, where people in the comments had told her she'd be more likely to be taken seriously.

"Will I be informed of what actions are taken against the driver? I don’t really care about the money portion — I just don’t want this driver to be delivering to other Disabled people like this," she said to them in a message.

Unfortunately, Grubhub still didn't seem to do much, saying nothing beyond that they'd be investigating the issue internally.

In a final video, Hunter described her last interaction with the company. She received a lengthy message from them claiming they were "conducting an internal investigation of the driver’s actions, and we will take all actions necessary, up to and including termination."

They also gave her a $100 voucher - not that she would get much use out of it. "It was never about the money, and I’m probably never going to use Grubhub again," she told her followers.
