A 21-year-old airline worker has filed a police complaint after allegedly going blind and nearly dying from a cup of coffee.

Per the Daily Mail, the woman - who has not disclosed her name - purchased the drink from a vending machine at Palma de Mallorca Airport, near the city of Palma.

Halfway through consuming the beverage, she noticed an unusual taste and, upon closer inspection, discovered "little antennas and wings" floating in the drink and clinging to the cup's side.

Appalled by the revolting sight, she captured a photo of the bug-laden cup.

When she first noticed the flies, she called Deli Corner - the coffee company responsible - who instructed her to bring her cell phone and promised a refund... of 50 cents.

However, she claims that she told the company that she didn't care about the money and urged them to take action on the gross machine.

Sadly, her misfortune took a terrifying turn when - just 10 minutes after drinking the contaminated beverage - she began feeling unwell and her vision suddenly faded.

She quickly went into anaphylactic shock, experiencing severe swelling of the face and throat, which hindered her ability to breathe.

As her condition worsened, she lost consciousness, prompting airport health services to administer adrenaline and other medications. She was subsequently rushed to a local clinic and admitted to the ICU for 36 hours.

Upon her arrival, she revealed that staff told her boyfriend that they were lucky "a body" wasn't brought in.

She was eventually released on Monday (April 22).

Reflecting on her terrifying experience, the victim recounted feeling isolated at the hospital, connected to "all those tubes".

In an attempt to hold those responsible accountable, the woman's family has now filed a police complaint against the airport, citing the presence of bugs in the poorly maintained vending machine as a violation of public health standards.

She is now focused on ensuring that corrective measures are taken so that another traveler doesn't find themselves in the same situation.

In response to the alarming incident, authorities have shut down the coffee machine.
