Death of conjoined twins officially announced
“Their story, their smiles, and their outlook on life left an indelible mark on many hearts,” the family wrote.
According to their close friend Fernando Carrillo, who spoke to Spanish television programme Y Ahora Sonsoles, the brothers were taken to hospital after Luis suffered a heart attack, and while doctors reportedly stabilized him, Armando suffered a heart attack just minutes later, before both brothers subsequently died.
Their brother, Damián, also spoke about the family's grief during the programme, admitting they were struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
“I have no words to describe how my parents feel,” he admitted.
The family shared a longer tribute on Instagram four days earlier, thanking the many people who had supported the twins throughout their lives and followed their journey online.
“We sincerely thank everyone who supported them, believed in them, and was part of every achievement,” the statement read.
“Thank you for accompanying them in making their dreams a reality and for giving them so much love along the way.
“Their legacy will live on in a phrase that always represented them: 'Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and disability is no impediment to being happy.'”
Luis and Armando had built a significant online following by sharing glimpses of their everyday lives, amassing more than 835,000 followers on TikTok and over 60,000 on Instagram, having also created content for livestreaming platforms Kick and Twitch.
Their videos offered followers an insight into their daily routines, including how they navigated everyday activities as conjoined twins.
In April, the twins traveled to Colombia for specialist rehabilitation, sharing footage of their treatment and exercise routines as they worked to improve their mobility.
The brothers spoke openly about the physical difficulties they had faced while learning to move together.
“We used to drag ourselves along the floor and it was difficult because we had no coordination with our legs.
“There were certain moments when we cried because we wanted to walk normally on both feet.”
Social media pays tribute to the pair
The brothers' final TikTok video was posted on October 12, just days before news of their deaths emerged, and in the video, they could be seen completing a workout routine while standing upright with the support of a wall.
The video has since attracted emotional messages from followers paying tribute to the twins and the positivity they brought to their online community.
One commenter wrote: “May this candle never go out and guide your souls to the glory of our Eternal Father. Rest in peace.”
Another Instagram user expressed disbelief at the news, writing: “I can't believe it! I recently came across his videos, amazing story.”
