TikTok influencer dies suddenly aged 22 after undergoing breast reduction surgery

A Brazilian social media influencer has sadly passed away just weeks after undergoing breast reduction surgery.
Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos, known online as Duda Alves, was a content creator who accumulated a following of over 800,000 across her social media platforms.
Just 22 at the time of her death, the Brazilian content creator notably made content about her breast reduction surgery just days before her death.
Local authorities confirmed Alves' passing, with tributes flooding in from friends and family online, as her burial was held at São João Paulo II Parish in Brasília, Brazil, on September 15.
The lifestyle vlogger would share aspects of her daily life, including videos with her partner and other content.
In a statement to People, the Civil Police of the Federal District said that the influencer's death is being investigated as a suicide, though they are yet to share more information 'in order to protect the privacy of the family.'
Alves' final TikTok post
Back on September 9, Alves shared her final post on TikTok, a video where she spoke about a breast reduction surgery she had recently undergone.
Alves explained that she'd received comments from 'sleazy men' who criticized her for undergoing the cosmetic procedure.
She said that the operation was carried out for 'comfort' and 'aesthetic' reasons.
Just one day prior, Alves took to TikTok to explain that just three weeks on from her procedure, she felt 'a lot of pain' and had been 'vomiting a lot and crying from the pain constantly' as a result of the surgery.
The Brazilian content creator's posts are now flooded with concerned fans who asked about her before her death, as well as those paying their respects since the tragic news emerged.
Tributes from family and friends
Loved ones took to social media to speak about the late influencer.
Alves' cousin, Geovana Alves, said on Instagram that the time they knew each other was the 'best 19 years of my life,' full of 'laughter, silly fights, secrets, trips, conversations, and so many dreams.'
She went on: “I will never forget everything we lived through. Every memory we shared will be kept in the most beautiful place in my heart,
“I hope you know how much you were loved. How much you are loved. And that, somehow, you can feel all the love that remains here.”
A friend of the TikToker, Clarissa Pavie, spoke of Alves' 'inner beauty,' which she said could 'overflow'.
“What a privilege it was to share some years of my life by her side, to follow her phases, her evolution, and to be able to accumulate so many beautiful memories that will be eternal, just like you,” she added.
Pavie then thanked her late friend for changing her life, and for being there 'when I needed you.'
