More details have emerged about the man who allegedly strangled his wife and chopped her up using a hand blender, before "pureeing" her remains.
It has been reported that the man at the center of this horrifying allegation appeared to be the ideal father and husband. He came from a wealthy family, had a good job, a large home, and even volunteered with a scout group.
However, behind closed doors, he was allegedly a "cold-hearted psychopath" who strangled his ex-model wife to death.
Shockingly, it didn’t end there. He is accused of going on to dismember and decapitate the woman he once claimed to love, even pureeing parts of her body in a blender and removing her womb.
Their seemingly perfect relationship began when Marc Rieben, 41, met ex-model Kristina Joksimovic, 38, at work. They quickly married in August 2017 and had two daughters in 2020 and 2021.
"She was really in love at the beginning, but I was a bit surprised when she got into a relationship with him as he didn't suit her at all. He came across as really introverted, very critical and sometimes quite arrogant," a close friend of Kristina told MailOnline.
"Kristina was married to a killer and had no idea. She left that psychopath home alone with the children. He was really derogatory with her, with gestures, words and even his tone... he wanted Kristina to disappear."
Kristina’s friend, who wishes to remain anonymous due to fear of "repercussions" from Marc, described him as a "ticking time bomb."
She expressed concern that "all of us, especially his children," could be in danger if he is released from custody.
She added: "If he can do something like this to Kristina, who he loved and is the mother of his own two children out of a hatred for her and an inferiority complex, then what will he do to those of us who told the police about their relationship."
During interviews, which Marc was allowed to attend under Swiss law, his demeanor was "so cold and showed no remorse."
Kristina’s friend shared that while she was initially devastated by her death, anger has since taken over as more gruesome details emerged in federal court.
Kristina had allegedly confided that their relationship had worsened after the birth of their children.
Marc had supposedly become increasingly withdrawn and refused to attend couples counseling. At one point, Kristina had reportedly called the police, though she never shared the full details, only mentioning that Marc had threatened to turn the situation against her.
Court documents revealed that the police had responded to the couple’s home on July 14, 2023, with evidence showing strangulation marks on Kristina’s neck.
Before her death, she is said to have decided to divorce Marc, and her friends warned her to be cautious due to his influential family.
None of her friends ever expected him to act violently. While Marc was allegedly verbally disrespectful, he had never been physically aggressive in front of others. Kristina had mentioned his purportedly excessive drinking and drug use, and she sought legal advice on how to leave him safely.
Marc has been accused of carefully planning her disappearance, using chemicals and attempting to destroy evidence of her existence.
Kristina’s friend expressed deep regret, saying: "She was the type of person who didn't want to talk badly about her marriage, so for her to even tell me what she did in the last twelve months, showed me that it was really, really bad.
"I should have registered it as a call for help, but I didn't. Me and her other friends will always blame ourselves and we will carry this with us forever."
The autopsy revealed that Kristina had been decapitated, and her womb had been removed in a deliberate act of mutilation. Some of her body parts were pureed in an industrial blender, and others were dissolved in chemicals.
Marc is said to have confessed to dismembering her in a panic, claiming he happened to have the industrial blender for his scout group.
Kristina’s father made the gruesome discovery of her remains in their basement laundry room, finding her severed head in a black trash bag. Marc reportedly showed no remorse, even blaming Kristina’s parents for staying too long at the house, suggesting they wouldn’t have found her body if they had left sooner.
Her friend described Marc as obsessive, particularly with their children, stating that he had strict rules about their upbringing.
However, none of their family or friends suspected he was capable of such a violent act. Even Marc's previous partner alleged that he had a history of using "massive violence" against her, including choking and hitting her during arguments.
