A former Miss Switzerland finalist was allegedly strangled to death and "pureed" by her husband.

Kristina Joksimovic was discovered dead on February 13 in Binningen, about two miles southwest of Basel, Switzerland.

The 38-year-old model's husband, who was only named by the pseudonym Thomas in local media, was reportedly arrested a day after her Joksimovics' remains were found by a "third party," as reported by Daily Mail.

According to BZ Basel, Thomas claimed that he killed his wife, who was the finalist for Miss Switzerland in 2007, in an act of self-defense.

The husband alleged that Joksimovic attacked him with a knife, which led to him dismembering her body "in a panic." However, FM1 Today reported that a medical forensic "contradicts his description of self-defense".

An autopsy revealed that Joksimovic's body was slaughtered in the laundry room with a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears. Local outlet Blick stated that her body parts were chopped up with a hand blender, "pureed" and dissolved in a chemical solution.

In addition to this, investigators also determined that the finalist was strangled before her horrific death.

The couple got married in 2017 and had two children. They lived in an affluent area of Basel, 20 Minuten reported.

Friends have expressed their shock at the heartbreaking news, with one person telling Blick: "To me, they seemed like the perfect family." However, another said the marriage had been "in crisis for months".

“It’s terrible. I’m really shocked," former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi, who was close friends with Joksimovic, told 20 Minuten. “I’m thinking of her two daughters. She was such a beautiful and kind-hearted woman," she added.

It's been reported that there were "concrete indications of a mental illness" in Thomas, with investigators describing him as having "sadistic tendencies," per Metro.

The suspect also had a "noticeably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy, and cold-bloodedness after killing his wife," the outlet added.

He had an appeal for release from custody denied by the Federal Court after reportedly confessing to killing the 2003 Miss Northwest Switzerland pageant winner.

Just four weeks before she was murdered, Joksimovic, who had her own business as a catwalk coach, reportedly shared pictures on social media of a “couple’s getaway” at an elegant hotel above Lake Lucerne, per The Telegraph.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this time.
