Man who 'met Jesus' during 18-day coma claims he gave him this simple instruction to tell the world
A man who once survived a devastating crash claims he left his body, came face-to-face with Jesus during an 18-day coma and then returned to the world with a message he believes he was instructed to share.
Gabe Poirot sustained catastrophic injuries after crashing his electric skateboard at around 30mph without wearing a helmet.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Poirot recounted the moment he hit the ground, saying his skull immediately cracked, with doctors reportedly warning his family that his injuries were so severe that, even if he survived, he could be “nothing more than a vegetable”.
His brain stem was said to be “99 percent just gone”, while his condition deteriorated to the point that he flatlined and had to be resuscitated, before initially remaining unconscious for three days.
Doctors placed him into a medically induced coma for around another two weeks as they battled to save his life, but while his body remained in a hospital bed, Poirot claimed his consciousness had travelled somewhere else entirely.
He said he was able to see his own body from outside himself, including a friend praying over him, before being drawn towards what he believed was heaven.
Man reveals message Jesus gave him
According to Poirot, it was there that he encountered Jesus and was given a message to take back with him: “He looked at me, he said, ‘Gabriel,’” Poirot told the Daily Mail.
“Tell my family who I really am. Tell them I'm coming back soon to get them.”
Poirot has since written about his experience in a book titled 18 Days in Heaven, saying he had been out riding that evening when he approached a bend in the road and suddenly lost control.
“I hit just a bump in the middle of the road and flipped off,” he recalled. “I landed directly on my head. My skull immediately cracked.”
He spent approximately another two weeks in a coma, with his family being warned that the situation was extremely serious, saying, “They talked about me in the past tense.
“They truly called in my parents from Virginia. I literally left my body, and I watched my own friend, John Michael Howell, hold my lifeless body in his arms,” he claimed.
“I witnessed him praying over my body and asking the Father for healing, and I knew that I would be okay. I just started traveling. Like, literally, I was suctioned through this light.”
He said the light wasn't simply something transporting him from one place to another, but something he believed had its own consciousness.
“This light wasn't just taking me to a destination. This light wasn't even just a visible object - this light was a person that I had an appointment with.”
Poirot described travelling through what he believed to be a spiritual realm before arriving at what he called “the third heaven”, which he described as a vast city, but insisted it was unlike any ordinary urban environment.
According to Poirot, it was in this “third heaven” that he came face-to-face with Jesus, claiming he was roughly 5’11 to 6’ in height, with a “Middle Eastern” skin tone.
“I would describe him as much more Middle Eastern than a lot of depictions of Jesus.”
“Tears ran down my face, because I realized the truth of grace, I realized the truth of the cross.” Poirot continued.
He says Jesus eventually sent him back to his body, and after 18 days in a coma, Poirot suddenly regained consciousness. Discussing that moment, he claimed: “My parents ran in, the doctors ran in, they were like, ‘Oh my goodness, are you there?’”
According to Poirot, his recovery then progressed far more rapidly than doctors had anticipated, and was soon able to recognize his family and begin recovering his memories.
“Within a day, my memory had just started to come back, and I recognized my sister, recognized my family. They said, ‘We've never seen a case like yours survive… and definitely not become normal again,’” he added.
Nearly five years after the accident, Poirot says he has rebuilt his life, marrying his wife, Ally, in 2023, and the couple welcomed their son, Elijah, last year, having since recovered from the incident.
