An Olympic skateboarder has taken a rail to the groin in a hard-to-watch wipeout. Angelo Caro Narvaez, 21, endured the painful accident at the Tokyo Olympics men's street heats after he attempted to grand a rail at an awkward angle and fell, causing his board to slip out from beneath his feet, <a href="https://www.insider.com/olympic-skateboarder-collides-groin-first-with-rail-in-comical-crash-2021-7">Insider</a> reports. His momentum led to him colliding groin-first into a metal pole - in a sporting accident that will likely go down in history. The incident took place at the Olympic's first-ever skateboarding event, as per the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/olympics/article-9822975/Tokyo-Olympics-Peruvian-skateboarder-Angelo-Caro-Narvaez-suffers-eye-watering-crash.html">Daily Mail</a>, and was one of five new events to take place at Tokyo 2020. One of the broadcasters said after the fall, per <a href="https://uk.style.yahoo.com/tokyo-olympics-2021-peruvian-skateboarder-takes-rail-to-groin-043550199.html">Yahoo News</a>: "The Peruvian really just laying it all out there." Reacting to the footage, one Twitter user wrote: "Olympic swimming gave us the Iron Lady and now Olympic skateboarding has introduced us to Buns of Steel." [[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/BobbyRossi3/status/1419239803657363459]] At the beginning of the day, <a href="https://www.insider.com/olympic-skateboarder-collides-groin-first-with-rail-in-comical-crash-2021-7">Insider</a> reports, it was hoped that Narvaez would win a medal, but he scored just 1.01 in the preliminary round as a result of the crash. However, the Olympian's score dramatically improved on his second run and he scored 6.96, which enabled him to qualify for the final. Despite managing to recover from the painful-looking accident, Narvaez was not able to emerge victorious from the event and came fifth with a score of 32.87.
