Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a vulnerable moment during an interview when asked about his family.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine one week ago, Zelensky has made headlines around the world - whether it's as the determined leader taking to the streets of Kyiv to defend his nation or from people discovering his background in the entertainment industry.

Now, the Ukrainian leader has shown a more vulnerable side during an interview with the media, after being asked about the last time he saw his family.

During an interview with the media, a reporter asks Zelensky if he had seen his family amid the ongoing crisis. In response, the leader solemnly replied: "No, no, I can’t."

The reporter then asked the president: "When was the last time you saw them?"

Looking emotional and exhausted, Zelensky replied: "Before this war," before correcting himself and saying: "No... No not before this war, no. Three days ago. The middle, The middle part of this war."

Watch the moment below:

Per The Washington Post, last week Zelensky would describe himself as "target number one" and his family as "target number two". Zelensky’s wife of 19 years, Olena, and their two children - aged 17 and nine - are currently in hiding in the country, per The Independent.

As reported by CNN, took to Facebook on Wednesday evening to comment on Ukraine's ongoing efforts against Russian forces.

He said: "More and more occupiers are fleeing back to Russia, from us, from you, from all those who drive out the enemy with javelins, guns, tanks, helicopters - with everything that shoots. I wish you health, native Ukrainians, strong and kind, but not to the enemy!"

"We are a nation that broke the enemy's plans in a week — plans those have been built for years, vile, calculated, with hate for our country, for our people, for any people who have two things: freedom and heart. But we stopped them and beat them," the post added.

Zelensky continued: "Our military, our border guards, our territorial defense, even ordinary farmers capture the Russian military every day. And all the captives say only one thing: they do not know why they are here. Despite the fact that there are dozens of times more of them, the morale of the enemy is constantly deteriorating."
