Police have revealed that a "concerning" note was left at the home of a Georgia firefighter found dead beside their ex-high school sweetheart.

On Sunday (June 30), the Hinesville Police Department announced that Chandler Kuhbander and Raegan Anderson were found dead in Cocke County, Tennessee - which was nearly 400 miles away from home.

The 24-year-olds - who had been missing since June 24 - worked together at Liberty County Fire Services and dated seven years after meeting in high school. They recently split after a “toxic” relationship.

The department penned in a press release: "We regret to inform the public that the bodies of missing persons, Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, along with Anderson's vehicle, have been discovered in Cocke County, TN."

"Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle, and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time," they said, referring inquiries to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.

Liberty County Fire Services also released a statement saying they were "deeply saddened" by the devastating news. They added that both were "extremely dedicated employees" who "put their hearts and souls into protecting and serving" the community.

Chandler's mom, Jane Kuhbander, claimed that on Saturday, June 22, her son went on a date at Olive Garden - which was after he broke up with his ex.

According to the grieving parent, Raegan arrived at the restaurant and supposedly confronted him. She then allegedly keyed his car and was charged with second-degree criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, per WJCL.

Two days later (Monday, June 24), Chandler contacted Jane and allegedly said that Raegan was “blowing up” his phone and threatening to end her life. That was the last she heard from him.

After it was reported that the firefighters were missing, Jane shared a post on Facebook alleging that her son was not with his ex-partner "willingly," adding that Raegan was "a danger to herself".

Chandler's last known sighting was on June 24. He went to Crunch Fitness, with security footage reportedly showing him entering and exiting the Oglethorpe Mall.

Jane, who reportedly watched the video, claimed that her son's car was seen driving through the mall's parking lot around the same time.

"At 11:40 my son walks out of the building and he looks very comfortable like he just had his workout," she said. "He doesn't look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don't see him again."

Authorities conducted a welfare check at Raegan's residence as part of their investigation and entered the home because the door was open. There, they discovered a note, "which would raise concern with anybody reading it regarding the health and wellbeing of Miss Anderson," as cited by Too Fab.

Per the outlet, the firefighter was later seen pumping gas in South Carolina. Tracey Howard, Hinesville Chief of Police, shared some thoughts regarding this and said: "My understanding is his phone pinged at the same gas station where she lost her debit card and can be seen pumping gas... From what I'm able to see, I could not tell he was in the vehicle."

Law enforcement is still investigating the circumstances that led to Chandler and Raegan's passing.
