Two Georgia firefighters who were high school sweethearts were found dead, nearly 400 miles away from home.

Hinesville Police in Georgia disclosed in a press release that Reagan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, both 24, were discovered deceased in Cocke County, Tennessee on Sunday (June 30).

Authorities said their lifeless bodies were recovered along with Anderson’s black 2017 Ford Focus.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Anderson and Kuhbander families during this incredibly difficult time,” the department added.

Police have been attempting to piece together what happened between the firefighters, who worked together at Liberty County Fire Services.

According to Kuhbander’s mom, Jane Kuhbander, the pair dated seven years after meeting in high school, but recently split after a “toxic” relationship, per CourtTV.

The devastating events began after cops responded to a report of a domestic issue at an Olive Garden in Pooler, Georgia, on Saturday, June 22 - which was two days before they disappeared.

Per WJCL, Jane said that Anderson supposedly confronted her son while he was on a date at the restaurant before keying his car. She was charged with second-degree criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

Then, on Monday (June 24), Kuhbander called his mother and allegedly said that Anderson was “blowing up” his phone and threatening to end her life. "It's not the first time that she's done it," Jane said. That was the last she heard from him.

That same day, Kuhbander was seen on surveillance footage at Crunch Fitness. His mom, who claimed to have been shown the video, said her son's vehicle was seen driving through the mall's parking lot around the same time. It seems that he never returned to his car.

"At 11:40 my son walks out of the building and he looks very comfortable like he just had his workout," said Kuhbander's mother. "He doesn’t look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don’t see him again.”

"You don’t want to be in this position. And when you see it on television, I can see how they feel. Then it hits you, like, I am that person. I do feel that way. This is terrifying and you have no answers," she added.

When police went to Anderson’s home after the couple disappeared, they found the house empty with a note "which would raise concern with anybody reading it regarding the health and wellbeing of Miss Anderson," as cited by outlets.

Liberty County Fire Services said in a statement that it was ”deeply saddened” by the heartbreaking news.

“These two extremely dedicated employees put their hearts and souls into protecting and serving the citizens of Liberty County,” the statement read. “Our prayers, and those of the department, are with the families during this most difficult time.”

Hinesville Police noted that investigators are reviewing the crime scene and that “details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle, and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time".

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this news.
