As bewildering as it may seem to some of us, our favourite Game of Thrones characters actually do have their own lives and loved ones to come home to after a day on set. Jon and Ygritte have kept their onscreen romance going in their personal lives, much to the joy of doting fans. But the same can't be said for the other cast members.
You'll be shook to find that in real life, Brienne and Tormund will probably never happen, Sansa is dating a Jonas brother, and someone actually married the repulsive physician Qyburn. We've got to be realistic, guys. These people are fictional, and while they might play someone devastatingly attractive or just downright heinous, most actors playing these characters are in relationships in real life. With the exception of Emilia Clarke, who might just be as picky as her character, Danaerys.
Here are 18 Game of Thrones characters and their real-life partners.
1. Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte)
These two have stayed together since their season two, three and four romance. Harrington admitted that he fell for Leslie on set, telling the Jonathon Ross: "I fell in love in Iceland. I fell in love with my co-star". They've been together since 2012 and have moved in together this year.
2. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and her boyfriend Joe Jonas
Turner and the singer have been together since December last year. They've recently adopted a husky puppy together, a modern-day sign of long-term commitment. 'Porky Basquiat' (I don't know either) is Turner's very own direwolf, who has already amassed quite a following on his own Instagram page.

3. Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and his wife Erica Schmidt
Dinklage and his actress-and-director-wife Schmidt are currently expecting their second child. Their first was born in 2011, but no-one knows the name or date of birth. Some say their daughter is called 'Zelig', but Dinklage shut that rumour down: "Let me tell you right now: Her name is not Zelig. But it's hilarious that that's a fact in Wikipedia."
4. Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) and his wife Gry Molvær Hivju
She's a journalist, TV presenter and photographer from Norway. They're pretty cute together, but it's kind of heartbreaking to know that Tormund and Brienne won't happen in real life. Fingers crossed for next season though.

5. Gwendoline Christie (Brienne Of Tarth) and Giles Deacon
Deacon is a British clothing designer whose fashion house designed Pippa Middleton's wedding dress. They've been dating for a while now, and he's almost as tall as six-foot-three-inch Christie.
6. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Ollie Jackson
Jackson isn't famous, and they met at school. They only publicly revealed their relationship this year. Looking at their Instagram posts you'd think they're just a regular couple. Now they're constantly posting adorable but also not lame couple photos, and it's really cute.

7. Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Dan Cadan
Although they keep their relationship top secret, it was announced that the couple are engaged to be married. Headey and Cadan have apparently known each other since they were kids. This is to be Headey's second marriage.
8. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and his wife Nukâka
Nukâka is Greenlandic and known for her career as a singer, actress and former Miss Greenland. She married the Danish actor in 1998, and they have two children together.
9. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) and Charlotte Emmerson
Glen has been with the British actress for 11 years, and they have two children.
10. Carice Van Houten (Melisandre) and Guy Pearce
The Dutch actress and Pearce, an Australian actor who starred in Factory Girl, The King's Speech and Prometheus, recently had a child together. It's not the shadow baby.
11. Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) and Aisling Loftus
Anderson and Loftus have been together for five years. "She’s intelligent, sensitive and empathetic, and I’ve never met anybody who cares about people as much as she does," Anderson told The Guardian.
12. Anton Lesser (Qyburn) and his wife Madeleine Lesser
Despite his vulgar character, the guy who plays Qyburn seems to be a pretty decent guy, and has been happily married for ages.
13. Aidan Gillen (Petyr Baelish) and Camille O'sullivan
Gillen made his relationship with the Irish singer public in 2015. They don't have any kids together, but do have children from previous relationships.
14. Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) and his wife Colette Cunningham
The actor who plays Davos is a real family man, he's a proud father to three children with his wife.
15. Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy) and his wife Anna Bro
The Danish couple have been together since 2008, since then they've tied the knot and had a daughter, Agnes, together. Bro is a relatively successful playwright in Denmark.
16. Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Anthony Byrne
Dormer met the director in 2007, and they've been engaged since 2011.
17. Michiel Huisman (Daario Naharis) and his wife Tara Elders
Game of Thrones' most eligible bachelor, Daario Naharis, is taken. There goes the sound of another broken heart.
18. Jonathan Pryce (High Sparrow) and his wife Kate Fahy
Pryce is regularly typecast as powerful religious figures (Cardinal Wolsey, the High Sparrow, and soon Pope Francis), but he is in fact married. The two were together for 43 years before actually getting married.
There you have it folks. It seems most of the Game of Thrones cast are in happy relationships. Your dreams might be broken, but try not to be selfish and feel happy that at least the actors don't live in a tumultuous world where you can't trust anyone and the person you love has a high probability of facing a gruesome and untimely death... Unlike in the show.
