If you have seen the latest
Star Wars movie, you will no doubt remember the iconic/hilarious scene which featured
Kylo Ren shirtless with a pair of black trousers pulled impossibly high. While plenty of people were quick the gush about how buff Adam Driver was, there was an equal amount of laughter at his trousers and the fact that he had essentially given himself a wedgie.
But hey, he's Kylo Ren: an incredibly emotional 30-year-old who genuinely behaves more like a stroppy teenager than the heir to the throne of the dark side. Given that he's a bit of an emotional wreck, maybe he's just conscious of his
beer belly and likes that his high-waisted tights tuck it in. Or maybe, just maybe, he is a really big fan of Simon Cowell and his sense of fashion.

While it's questionable whether the X Factor existed in the days of Star Wars, Rian Johnson, the writer and director of The Last Jedi, did offer up a reason as to why the scene was included in the film, calling it a "beefcake moment" for Driver:
“It’s all about those Force connection scenes. The keyword being intimacy. And the idea that this was a way to just, why not step that up? The idea that, what’s even more uncomfortable having a conversation face to face with a person you don’t want to, is if they’re half-naked during it, while you’re having to do it. And so it was just another way of kind of disrobing Kylo literally and figuratively a little bit more, and pushing that sense of these conversations becoming increasingly more intimate.”

Of course, the fact that Driver was in good shape helped with the scene, something which Johson admits.
“Adam looks so damn good because he’d been training hardcore for the past six months for those fight scenes. I’m like, ‘Eh. He looks so good. We should put him up there.’”
Whatever the reason behind the bizarre wardrobe choice, plenty of people - including John Mayer - began to emulate the look and the internet gave birth to the 'Kylo Ren challenge'.

However, such is the nature of the internet, people are now done with the Kylo Ren Challenge and have moved on to the Princess Leia Challenge instead. While you may think this challenge might involve doing your hair in the iconic Leia style, you would be wrong.
In truth, The Princess Leia challenge involves pulling your t-shirt or coat collar across your face, much like Leia did in The Last Jedi. It was started by Twitter user Molly Tanzer and has gone surprisingly viral.

Twitter, eh? It is quite possibly the weirdest place on Earth. So we've had the Kylo Ren and Princess Leia challenges - what next? The Chewbacca Challenge? Or, how about the Yoda Challenge, which would involve painting yourself green and getting a six pack on your forehead.

Whatever the next challenge is, may the force be with you all.
