30-pound chunky cat named 'Lasagna' finds forever home after being abandoned
It's no secret that some animals love their grub.
But when it comes to the food department, some animals enjoy overindulging more than most, like this 30-pound chunky cat named Lasagna, for the most obvious of reasons.
Lasagne is five-years-old, and she recently won the hearts of the internet after she was abandoned near a Philadelphia animal shelter.

After being discovered in Hunting Park, near the ACCT Philly shelter, Lasagne was weighed and staff were shocked to discover that she weighed 29.5 pounds (13.15 kilos).
To put Lasange's weight into context, that's the average weight of a three-year-old child.
Needless to say, while it's not known how Lasange managed to put on so much weight, it's a pretty safe bet that it was the result of too much food and not enough exercise.

After Lasange arrived at the shelter, she was put on a special diet to try and reduce her weight.
A healthy cat of her size should weigh around 8 pounds (3.6 kilos), but she is currently three times this size, and if her weight goes untreated, it could result in further issues like heart disease and diabetes.
Even now, Lasange has issues grooming herself because of her massive size.
So when pictures and a video of Lasagna were soon shared on ACCT Philly's Twitter and Facebook in the hope of finding someone to adopt or foster her, the shelter knew that she'd need a very special home.

But despite the challenge Lasange's weight presented, the shelter was inundated with requests to take on the big cat, and it wasn't long before she found the perfect home in the form of the Hammer family from New Jersey.

The Hammers have now committed to helping Lasange on her continued weight loss journey, and as this picture demonstrates, she looks like a very happy kitty with her new mom and dad.
