Fish have always seemed so darn alien to me simply because of how different they are to humans. From their scaley bodies to their gills to the fact they live underwater - they really are about as far from humans as possible. Or so I thought...

Now, a woman in China has left the internet stunned and squirming after recording footage of a fish that appeared to have a "human" face.

The widely-shared footage shows a carp swimming around a pond in a village in southern China. The woman, who was visiting the village, found the sight so bizarre that she decided to film the fish. Awestruck by what she was seeing, she says: "The fish has turned into a fairy."

I don't know about a fairy, but this is one weird fish. Check it out below:

Per the Daily Mail, the odd fish was discovered in the Miao Village, a tourist destination in the city of Kunming. The footage was subsequently uploaded to Chinese social media site, Weibo, where users quickly commented and shared the footage.

If you look closely, the "face" is actually caused by the carp's unique markings - making it an incredibly rare sight.

But this isn't the only animal to leave the internet stunned with its human-like appearance. Meet Nori, an Aussiepoo mix who also has a human face.

Nori's owners, Kevin Hurless and Tiffany Ngo, live with the crossbreed in the city of Seattle in Washington, and first noticed that Nori had the makings of a canine influencer after Kevin tweeted a picture of him, which ended up getting a lot of attention from other social media users.

Kevin revealed that when he and Tiffany would walk the pooch, strangers would often stop them in the street and comment on Nori's bizarre appearance. Although they say that this phenomenon has gotten less frequent as Nori has aged, they still hear fairly often about how human his face and eyes look.

So there you have it, if you're ever worries about your own appearance, just embrace it like these gorgeous creatures!
