A rogue puppy stole the show at a Utah high school track meet and won the relay race.
Logan High School senior Gracie Laney was about to emerge victorious at the event on Saturday (April 17) when she realized that she had some unexpected competition: a puppy, who was carrying its leash.
The hilarious crashing of the race was filmed by MileSplit who later uploaded it to social media.
Watch the incredible moment the dog crashes and wins the race below:Laney said she enjoyed reliving the incident when she watched the video back because the whole thing had happened so fast.
"At first, I thought it was another runner and I was surprised because we had a pretty good lead," she said. "As it got closer, I thought, 'That's too small to be a person,' and then I noticed it was a dog."
The moment Laney realized that there was a small dog on the track, her priority changed from winning the race to her own personal safety after she nearly tripped over the animal.
She then began to worry about the dog itself, frightened that she'd accidentally impale it with the spikes on her shoes.
"When the dog crossed in my lane, I was afraid that I was going to trip over it, and then I was worried that I was going to spike it with my spikes," she recalled. "It all happened so fast."
Needless to say, the video went down a storm on YouTube.
One viewer wrote: "I love how the crowd just kept cheering louder when the dog came out."

A second joked that the dog was able to beat the athletes without even warming up.

A third wrote: "That girl with the 3rd leg was great, she put her team in the front, until Mr. Ruffles came out and dominated the field. That was purrfect. [sic]"

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote a comment we can all agree with: "That must be Usain Bolt's dog ! Because he got those afterburners !! [sic]"

At the time of writing, KSL reports, it's unknown where the dog came from or even where it went to, but one thing's for sure, it certainly made an exciting race all the more nail-biting!
