Joe Biden was declared the projected* winner of the 2020 US presidential election on Saturday, November 7, by NBC, CNN, BBC News, and many other media outlets.
In the wake of the projected win, an unofficial, fan-made Instagram page has been set up for Biden's German Shepherds, Champ and Major - or as they're referred to in the page's bio, the "First Dogs of the USA".
"You can call us #DOTUS," the bio adds. "We love nom noms, snuggles & roaming in the [White House]!"
It has also been reported that Major is set to become the first shelter dog to live in the White House.
Kamala Harris called Joe Biden to congratulate him on his projected election win:Indeed, Biden's projected election win has been one of many firsts, with the president-elect himself set to become the oldest president in US history. The record was previously held by Donald Trump, who is currently 74.
In addition, Biden's running mate, Kamala Harris, who is of Jamaican and Indian parentage, is now projected to become the first female vice president of color in the nation's history.
But back to Biden's adorable pooches...
According to TMZ, Champ has been a part of the Biden family since 2008, and Major joined them a decade later in 2018.
The publication also explains that Biden and his wife Jill fostered Major after their daughter, Ashley, told them that a litter of newborn puppies needed a temporary home.
And incredibly, despite the fact that the new fan account (handle: @First_Dogs_USA) has only been up and running for two days (since Sunday, November 8), the page has already amassed an impressive 58.9k followers at the time of writing.
We hope, after their dad's projected election win, Major and Champ are ready for life in the spotlight.
As of this writing, CNN projects that Joe Biden has received 279 electoral votes and a total of 76,177,161 public votes. Donald Trump has received 214 electoral votes with a total of 71,542,022 public votes.
