Spiders might be a common creepy crawlie around the world, but their prevalence hasn't caused the majority of us humans to suddenly develop a fondness for them.
And when it comes to spindly legs and googly eyes, bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, as this Reddit user proved when they posted a picture of a giant spider they claimed to have found in their yard.
Related - Spiders always seem to turn up in the most unlikely places:Reddit user u/noobshifu69 shared a picture of the terrifying monstrosity in a bid to identify the spider.
Now, while the exact size of this spider isn't apparent from this picture, it's even prompted comparisons from the giant spider lurking in the Forbidden Forrest in 'Harry Potter', Aragog.
But in its defense, size aside, its eyes actually look quite cute.

Now, if you're a fan of Harry Potter, you'll know that Aragog (may he rest in peace) was the leader of a giant army of spiders that lived in Hogwarts' Forbidden Forest.
While Aragog wasn't exactly liked by the few students he encountered, he was well-loved by Hogwarts' groundskeeper Hagrid, who regarded him as a close friend.
Relive the moment Aragog almost gave Ron Weasley a heart attack below:One Reddit user wrote: "Isn't that the spider from Harry Potter?"
A second referenced the Harry Potter spider, adding: "Aragog, my old friend."
Some people suggested that the spider pictured is a wolf spider, pictured below, although this hasn't been verified.
This arachnid got its name from its ability to pounce on its prey like a wolf.

According to The Wildlife Trusts, wolf spiders are seen as "beneficial neighbors" who can help keep garden pests in check.
This is something that was noted on Reddit too, with one user writing: "be thankful for this good boy."
However, this is not the only eight-legged freak to make its way into the news today, and earlier, we reported the story of a man who discovered none other than a Huntsman spider lurking in his headphones.
