Treasured family photos are particularly special in most households, but one Twitter user has seen his old family portrait go viral after noticing an extra furry member.
Matthew Anderson - known as ‘MT’ Anderson on the social media platform - shared what looked like a typical family portrait at first glance. However, upon further inspection, his fluffy pocket square wasn't a pocket square at all.
The author, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, wrote alongside the image: “I post this old Christmas photo because I just noticed my pocket square is my sister's hamster.”
Lo and behold, a closer look at the image shows that MT's jacket pocket isn't adorned with a traditional pocket square, but a tiny rodent called Olivanna.
Check out the hilarious image below - it should definitely get a prize for the sneakiest (and cutest) photo bomb ever:
With Olivanna's tiny paws and head rearing out, the hamster quickly delighted social media users - with MT's post amassing over 188,000 shares and 32,000 retweets.
Additionally, many other social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the whimsical family portrait.
“Rodent on point. They never go out of style,” One user said.
Another joked: “I would think your pockets wouldn't have anything in them. I mean they ARE M.T. pockets.”
A third said: “Hamsters across the land are shaking in their wheels. Or at least will when they wake up!”
Olivanna has also introduced fellow hamster-loving friends to each other, recalling their pocket journeys with their furry friends.
“This is so good. No pithy comment, but I did carry my hamster on the train from [Edinburgh] to Stratford 20 years ago... they are very well behaved in pockets,” said one person.
While another felt they should reply with their own tale.
“So true,” another user added. “My hamster, Salem, used to love sitting in my dad's shirt pocket while he walked around the house.”
“My kids hamster 'Hamsterette' (so original) used to ride in my apron pocket when I did the breakfast cleanup,” a third quipped. “I suspect it was mainly for toast crumbs but I enjoyed her company nonetheless.”
It looks like every family needs an Olivanna in their homes!
