A cat has left spectators stunned by dangling and falling from a stadium during a college football game.
The incident took place at an NCAA division game between the Miami Hurricanes and Appalachian State Mountaineers at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday (September 11), News.com.au reports.
The cat was first spotted by shocked spectators hanging from the upper deck of the stadium as it held on for dear life.
Watch the viral footage of the incident below:In the video, the cat can be seen precariously dangling from the top floor of the stadium with both paws before it eventually loses its grip with one and then the other.
Thankfully, the animal had been spotted by fans, who came together to use an American flag to catch the animal during its inevitable fall.
The animal was then successfully caught in the flag and avoided what would have most likely been a deadly injury.
One of the spectators who helped to save the cat then lifted the animal up after it was saved, promoting a jubilant reaction from the crowd.
Needless to say, the footage of the cat did not go unnoticed on Twitter, and at the time of writing, it has been viewed more than 4.8 million times.
Reacting to the footage, NFL writer John Breech wrote: "As someone who has seen every cat video ever on the internet, I can unequivocally say that this is simultaneously the most dramatic and mesmerizing cat video of all-time. #HardRockCat"
Brandon Sullivan added: "This is nuts but a huge shout out to those fans for quick thinking! Yay for a safe kitty. #HardRockCat"
A third viewer wrote: "Holy s**t. Yeah. 'Save the cat.' That was definitely one of its 9 lives."
A fourth remarked: "Damn, never thought I'd see an American flag used for something good."
Meanwhile, a fifth commented on how the cat was treated after being saved, writing: "I went from scary to amazing to 'holy crap quit manhandling the cat.'"
"They were trying to grab it from above and they couldn‘t reach it but they were scaring it downward," Craig Cromer, a facilities manager at the University of Miami, told ESPN.
"It hung there for a little while with its two front paws, then one paw, then I was like, 'Oh my goodness, it's coming soon.'"
The footage of the incident was so popular that the hashtag #HardRockCat began to trend on Twitter.

Two sports fans got the shock of their lives this weekend, as a huge bald eagle went rogue at a college football game in Texas.
A 90,000-strong crowd watched the Cotton Bowl on Saturday, the college football playoff semi-final between Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Clemson Tigers - but nobody was prepared for what happened when Clark the bald eagle deviated from his flight plan.
Clark was apparently meant to fly around the stadium during the national anthem, but decided that he didn't quite want to follow orders. Instead of landing near his handler, he instead flew straight for Notre Dame fan Albert Armas, 42 and his 13-year-old son Jaysen, who had bought the pair $20 tickets to the game for Christmas.
Not happy to just spook one unwitting fan, Clark also hopped onto the arm of Tuyen Nguyen after the spectator decided to get in on the act.
He told Sports Illustrated: "When I saw the bird land [on Armas], I thought the bird had to be very tired. So I put my hand out to see what happens. And it landed on me. It was very interesting. I was very excited. It was amazing, I couldn't even believe it."
Kimberley Martin, a senior NFL writer for Yahoo Sports, shared the hilarious scene on Twitter, where some people claimed that it could only be a good omen for Notre Dame.

You'll all be happy to know that after his brief excursion into the crowd, Clark was successfully retrieved by his handlers, who will be hoping to keep their bird on track next time around.

An incredibly rare video of a moose shedding both of its antlers has left social media users absolutely stunned.
A family in Alaska caught the stunning moment on their Ring doorbell camera, which recorded the moment a moose walking outside their front door shook its head, causing its antlers to fall off into the snow with a thud. Tyra Bogert and her husband Chance, the pair who captured the clip, have since spoken about witnessing the insane event.
Chance told Newsweek about the occurrence: "I knew it was rare because all my hunting friends said they've never seen it in real life, let alone being caught on video."
The short clip has since been uploaded to TikTok, where it has already received close to three million views!

Many viewers took to the comments section to comment their surprise, with one person writing: "why did I always think they had to rub on something to make them come off?"
"That was fascinating. How would I have ever seen anything like that if not for your camera. Thank you. Incredible," someone else added.
Another user chimed in: "Am I the only person who didn’t know this was a thing?"
"I never knew this happened. So they grow back bigger and stronger or what?" a further comment read.
Tyra told TODAY that they were surprised that so many people have been left shocked at the clip, telling the outlet: "They're like, 'Oh my gosh, I didn't even know moose did this in the first place and what do you mean?
"They can just shake their head and the antlers fall off? They don't have to be like fighting or scratching a tree?' It's pretty crazy how many people are just uneducated on moose. They're so underrated ...but they're really cool animals."
Newsweek detailed that male moose are the only ones to have antlers and that their growth is regulated by testosterone levels. During winter they shed their antlers and up to 60 pounds of weight to conserve more energy for the season.
As for the Alaskan family who captured the video, they plan on mounting the antlers and keeping them for years to come.
A lucky cat appears to have used up one of its nine lives as it was seen jumping from the fifth floor of a burning Chicago building seemingly unscathed.
Footage of the leap has been posted to the Chicago Fire Media's Twitter account and shows the moment the feline emerges out of a broken window through billowing smoke.
Onlookers can be heard gasping as the cat hurls itself out of the window - just inches away from hitting a wall. Fortunately, the lucky feline made a fairly delicate landing - on all fours on a patch of grass. It bounced once and then ran off.

"It went under my car and hid until she felt better after a couple of minutes and came out and tried to scale the wall to get back in," said fire department spokesman Larry Langford, per the Guardian.
According to Langford, the cat did not sustain any serious injuries and he also added that he was trying to track down its owner.
Following the fire, which had set just one apartment alight, there were no reported injuries. The actual cause of the blaze - as well as the damage it caused - has not yet been reported in the media.
A number of people have since taken to Twitter to comment on the alarming video, with one writing: "Yeah, my cat jumped because a firefighter in full gear to grab her. She fell on the curb (5th floor) and broke her forelegs.
"But she was fine after that (there was no fire, she had jumped on the windows sill of the floor below us, and we were not at home)."
Another shared this fun "fact": "Cats can survive a fall from an unlimited height and the chance of injury actually decreases once the height is high enough for them to reach terminal velocity.
Once they reach the terminal velocity they spread their body out to significantly slow the rate of [descent]."
It is believed the cat is still without its owner - we can only hope they are reunited soon!

The Florida Panthers have launched an official investigation following a tense altercation between their mascot and an opposing fan.
The incident occurred during the NHL team's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night (February 6), The New York Post reported.
During the final minutes of the game, a Tampa fan began picking a fight with the Panthers' mascot amid his team's embarrassing 7-1 loss.
Fortunately, the altercation between the fan and Viktor E. Ratt - the Panthers' mascot - was captured by a bystander and posted on Twitter. "So where was [the FLA Live Arena] security?? Reason number 5 billion why Tampa fans are a circus show," the user captioned the short 35-second clip.
In the video, a man dressed in a blue t-shirt can be seen grabbing the mascot and attempting to yank his team jersey off, before shoving the furry rat into a glass divider in front of several onlookers. The fan then grabs the mascot, puts him in a chokehold, and begins shouting.
Fans took to the comments section to express their concern at the now-viral incident, with one user commenting on how staff members chose not to get involved. "i'm actually livid watching this. this tampa fan is acting 5 years old and physically assaulting a MASCOT. do u feel like a big man?? lol and also why are there 3 members of arena staff standing around and not doing anything to stop this. if i was there i'd definitely intervene," one person wrote.
Someone else agreed, adding: "This is where we are at as a society - I've seen things like this happen at Walmart and Target where people assault others and security has been told not to do anything because these assaulters will sue."
A further user hit out at the arena staff, tweeting: "yo you guys just let this happen? Absolutely unacceptable! Please take steps to ensure this behavior is properly addressed in the future. People will always be wild, but that doesn't mean your staff needs to just stand there and watch it happen."
Other users speculated whether the fight was staged, especially given that no one appeared to intervene. However, Fox Sports reporter Andy Slater revealed on Twitter that a Panthers spokesperson stated they're investigating the altercation, though nothing has been done so far.
"Florida Panthers spokesperson tells me this was not staged and they are investigating it. Sunrise Police tells me they have seen the video but were not contacted by the Panthers, so they have done nothing," Slater wrote.
"Viktor E. Rat would have to file a complaint with police for charges to be pressed against this Lightning fan," he added in a separate tweet. "A mascot source tells me that Viktor E's normal handler was off that night. The replacement didn't seem to intervene much, nor did the usher."
Alarming videos have emerged on social media showing a tiger on the loose in an ordinary suburban street in Texas.
Per New York Post, the big cat was spotted roaming around Ivy Wall Drive in Houston at approximately 8:00PM on Sunday, May 9.
Footage of the large animal was shared on Twitter by a passerby who witnessed the terrifying scene.
Clearly confused at what they saw, the social media user captioned the video: "Apparently there's a tiger loose on my parents' West Houston street?"
The short clip shows the Bengal tiger prowling around the suburbs, while an armed man attempts to evade it and escape in his pickup truck.
While pointing his gun at the cat, the man can be heard shouting in a state of panic to another person across the street: "Get the f*** back inside. F*** you and your f***ing tiger!"
No shots were fired during the clip.
Another video taken from a different angle shows a woman viewing the terrifying scene from her upstairs window.
The woman can be heard saying: "There is a freaking Bengal tiger roaming in this yard and this dude needs to be careful,” the woman says. "What the heck? Why is there a tiger?"
A different Twitter user living in the same area later took to social media to post several more snaps of the wild animal.
The local captioned the post: "So this happened a short while ago. Yeah, literal Tiger my neighborhood.
"Right after they brought it back inside they loaded it into an SUV and barreled out of their driveway over the lawn and fled from the police."
In a series of follow-up tweets, they added: "FYI The person with the gun is a friend, neighbor and an off-duty LEO who lives in the 'hood. He did an awesome job of controlling the situation.
"From what I heard from the neighborhood scuttlebutt, the guy left his gf at the house while he fled with the tiger in his SUV. [sic]"
According to Houston Chronicle, local residents contacted the police, who were told the tiger "had a collar around its neck."
The publication reports that the tiger was later corralled back inside a home and rushed away in its alleged owner's white Jeep Cherokee. The suspect fled before police arrived. No charges have been filed.
Speaking to KPRC 2, one neighbor said: "He came up to the tiger himself and leaned down and kissed the tiger, and then took him by his collar."
Other witnesses have claimed that this isn't the first time their neighbor was seen harboring exotic pets.
Wayne Pacelle, the president of Animal Wellness Action, has since said in a statement to KPRC 2: "Private citizens and emergency responders should not have to come face to face with a lion or a tiger in a crisis.
"These animals belong in the wild or in reputable sanctuaries or zoos and nowhere else. This epidemic of private ownership of these exotic animals must be put to a swift end before more animals die and more people are injured or killed."
