A heroic dog has saved a 12-year-old girl who was being chased by an unknown man.
According to a police report obtained by WKBN, the child was walking down the streets of Fairfield, Ohio, on Saturday (May 15) when she was followed by a man driving a red 1970's model Ford pick-up truck.
The report states that the driver then got out of the car and began to chase after her on foot.
However, before any harm could befall her, the girl - who was not named in the incident report - ran up her family's driveway.
It was then that she was rescued from her potential assailant by the dog, who jumped up and knocked the man to the ground and held him down while the child ran to safety.
The man, who has not yet been identified, then managed to wriggle out from under the animal, and subsequently escaped in his car and drove off. However, police have since stated that the pooch "got him pretty good".
Officials from the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office have since appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the man in the red truck.
A spokesperson for the department wrote in a post on Facebook:
"If you have any information on this incident or vehicle please contact Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. 330-424-7255."
This isn't the first time that man's best friend has stepped up to the plate and saved a person's life.
Check out this video of a dog fending off a snake:Back in 2019, a video emerged on social media showing a dog saving a sleeping baby from a deadly snake.
This video was filmed by a security camera installed at a house in the Filipino town of Kidapawan City. In it, the cobra can be seen slithering its way onto the patio and approaching the child.
However, the two family dachshunds then start pawing at the creature, only to pounce on it when they realized it was a danger.
The two pets struggled valiantly against the snake and managed to kill it, but not before it bit one of them, who died of her injuries moments later, as her owners arrived.
