Randomly bumping into an old friend or relative can quickly turn into a heartwarming moment for anyone - but very few of us would expect the sentiment to also be the same for our pet dogs.
Well, that's exactly what happened for Jessica Zic's beautiful dog Dolly last week, as the playful pup spotted a familiar face from across the park.
While walking Dolly in Centennial Park in Nashville on Friday (December 18), Jessica noticed Dolly running over to a dog that looked remarkably like her own.

That other dog was Wally, who was being walked by owner Becky Birg.
By total coincidence, Birg was stopping off in Nashville during a road trip from Chicago to Florida.
As the two Goldendoodles frolicked (that's a Golden Retriever and a Poodle-mix), Becky quickly recognized Dolly from pictures she had seen on Instagram - when both Dolly and Wally were puppies.

That's right, GNN reports that the two Goldendoodles were actually brother and sister, born in Wheaton, Missouri earlier this year.
Even more remarkably, is that they hadn't seen each other since they were eight-weeks old - as Dolly was adopted in May (and affectionately named after Dolly Parton).

Writing on Facebook, Jessica said: "Christmas came early for Dolly this year.
"As we were walking in Centennial Park today we saw a puppy that looked remarkably similar to Dolly.
"When we got closer the dog’s owner recognized Dolly from Instagram — it was her brother Wally who was stopping in Nash on a road trip from Chicago to Florida! The puppies got to play together for the first time since they were 8 weeks old."

Fortunately for us, both owners managed to get plenty of pictures of the heartwarming reunion, with one video showing Dolly and Wally jubilantly playing together without a care in the world.
As you can see from the Facebook comments below, this was exactly what the world needed to see right now:
It has been a rough year for many of us, and with many families are unable to spend the holidays together this year, we hope this unexpected family reunion helped to put a smile on your face.

A woman found herself part of a heartwarming reunion when she spotted an 11-year-old pomeranian-poodle cross available for adoption on Facebook.
Little did Nicole Grimes, from Pennsylvania, know that this encounter would lead her to be reunited with her beloved childhood puppy, also named Chloe.
Nicole shared her remarkable story with the BBC, recounting the moment she saw the dog's photo and felt an uncanny familiarity. She explained, "When I found out they were both called Chloe, it was really strange. It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe."
The pivotal moment came when Nicole came face-to-face with her 'new' dog. "When she was dropped off, she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog," she said.
However, Nicole's husband initially had reservations about this seemingly unbelievable coincidence. "He thought I was crazy, so we went to check the microchip," she explained. Their skepticism was dispelled when they discovered that the dog, in fact, bore the same microchip as the pet they had given up for adoption seven years ago.
"We couldn't believe it. It's just crazy!" Nicole exclaimed.
Chloe's story began when she was originally gifted to Nicole by her grandmother. "I was 10 years old, and all I wanted was a puppy. She was wearing a pink bow when Nana gave her to me. We were best friends," Nicole fondly recalled.
Sadly, Nicole's grandmother passed away several years ago, and reuniting with Chloe has helped her family cope with their loss.
Reflecting on the difficult decision to give Chloe up for adoption years ago, Nicole remembered her sadness during that time. "My dad got a new job working from home, but Chloe was too yappy, and he had to be on the phone all the time. I remember my dad picking me up from school when I was 14 with the dog in the back seat. I knew we had to give her away."
Today, Chloe is adjusting well to her new home with her original owner. Nicole shared, "She is a little smaller and has no teeth, but she still loves to run around."
Chloe has even found a new friend in the next generation of the Grimes family, as Nicole's four-month-old daughter, Violet, has formed a special bond with the furry family member. Nicole described their interaction, saying, "They love to play with each other. Chloe is very gentle with Violet, and it warms my heart to see them together."
This heartwarming reunion between Nicole and her childhood pet, Chloe, stands as a testament to the enduring bonds between humans and their beloved animals.

What started as an ordinary dog walk for two families turned into an adorable doggy family reunion for two furry siblings.
Two cockapoos that hadn't seen each other since they were puppies unexpectedly met up during walkies earlier this month, and after realizing they were brother and sister, the two dogs amazed their respective owner's with a special embrace.
Related - Who could forget the moment these two boys ran for a hug after not seeing each other for two days:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/iskZVFoV-izxriqNH.mp4||iskZVFoV]]
The two dogs, named Monty and Rosie, were born to the same litter last June. Susan Killip, Rosie's owner (the white one), told The Dodo: "There were six of them. But Monty and Rosie were always together."
Monty (the black pup), was adopted by Killip's friends who live in a nearby village, and soon after, the two pups lost touch.
That was, however, until their fateful walk in the park earlier this month. Killip told The Dodo:
"It was so lovely, they both just jumped up and hugged each other. It was amazing they remembered each other after 10 months of not seeing each other."
Libby Pincher shared pictures of the adorable moment to Twitter, along with the caption: "pls look at what my dad sent me this morning I cannot even"
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/libpincher/status/1262714621066166273]]
The post included a screenshot of a text message sent to her from her dad, which read: "So, Dave was out walking his dog, and there was a couple walking towards him with a white version of his dog. Turns out they are brother and sister from the same litter. But instead of just playing like they do with other dogs, look at this."
Libby's dad then sent through a picture of the two dogs embracing each other.
Then Twitter was treated to even more adorable snaps from that walk:

There has long been a lot of debate about whether or not dogs from the same litter actually recognize each other when meeting up, but Tufts University explains:
"Dogs of the same breed often gravitate toward each other. What we know is this: The scent of another dog stays with a dog for a long time [...] But whether the dog is processing that it’s a familial connection, we’ll probably never know for sure."
Never know? Look at that hug! I think we all know the truth here...

A family dog has run away and gone missing, after the wrong family picked her up from the kennels she was staying at.
Lilly, a black Labrador mongrel mix, fled after the wrong people took her away from the Francis Kennels dog's boarding home in Beavercreek, Ohio. The dog's real family, as well as kennel staff, are now frantically searching for her.
Commenting on her missing pooch in an interview with WHIO TV, owner Lauren Williamson stated: "She’s a rescue dog from Atlanta, Georgia. She was probably the best dog I’ve ever had ... My mom and dad are a complete mess. I have hope we will find her ... We came back from a weeklong vacation and we found out that the kennel gave away our dog to the wrong owner."
Meanwhile, kennel manager Stephen Grech added: "It was our mistake, for me to give them the dog in the first place. Each dog that comes in has an individual collar. Lilly had her bath and the collar came off."
Check out this heartwarming video of a dog comforting puppies in a kennel:

He continued: "We’ve used drones. We have brought down a group from Columbus who are experts at trapping or catching dogs that have gotten away from their owners. If they see Lilly, don’t try and chase her because she will run. She’s skittish. Just report. We have flyers all over."
"How did the other people who picked up the dog not realize it wasn’t their dog? I do not know ... When the owners pick up the dog they should know that that’s not their dog. But she is a black Lab mix and a lot of dogs look like her."
Lilly's family is offering a $1000 reward to anyone who can find their beloved pet. If you spot her then please telephone Francis Kennels in Xenia, on 937-374-1636.

A dog on Instagram has caught people's attention as it appears as if she has a selfie of herself on her ear.
Dogs. Although some people aren't keen on them (and if you're one of those people, I'm not keen on you), for the most part, they are widely loved across the world and are deemed as "man's best friend."
It's rare to find someone in life who is ready to nap, eat, and party all at the same time, but you can count on your canine companion being ready for anything at a moment's notice.
But above all, they are absolutely adorable - especially when they have a quirky feature.
Lucy is a seven-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix who lives in Clarkesville, Tennessee with her owners Cassidy and Zach Johnson who noticed a rather cute detail about the pooch when they adopted her.
On Lucy's left ear are some rather distinctive markings that appear to show two floppy ears, two eyes, a nose, and a mouth.
In other words, it appears as if Lucy has a selfie of herself on her ear.
Lucy boasts over 10,000 followers on Instagram and it's easy to see why, as the adorable dog clearly enjoys spending time with her family.
If the Johnsons ever need to identify their dog, it would be easily done since they could recognize the selfie on her ear from a mile away.
If you're keen for another dog story, how about the heartwarming tale of a woman who adopted the dog she was forced to give up as a child?
Nicole Grimes from Pennsylvania stumbled upon an 11-year-old pomeranian-poodle cross available for adoption on Facebook, only to discover that the furry friend was none other than her childhood puppy.
Nicole shared her extraordinary tale with the BBC, recalling the moment she came across the dog's photo and felt an inexplicable connection. She expressed: "When I found out they were both called Chloe, it was really strange. It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe."
The pivotal moment occurred when Nicole finally met her 'new' dog in person. "When she was dropped off, she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog," she said.
All skepticism was shattered when they discovered that the dog indeed had the same microchip as the pet they had given up for adoption seven years ago.

The internet is full of weird and wonderful animals, and quite frankly, it's the best thing about living in such a connected world! When a furry friend decides to do something cute, we now have the ability to share it with, well, just about everyone!
Case in point, this dog, which has gained thousands of followers online because of her very unique way of posing for a photo.

Now, as any fan of a group photo will know, it's of the utmost importance to do something a little unique to make sure that you stand out, but Kiko the dog has got it down to a fine art and snapping back her head in a way that would give most pet owners a heart attack.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CJVTCD7jQkm/]]
In an interview with Bored Panda, owner Ashleigh Macpherson said: "We have Mika, who is 3 years old. The other ginger dog is Tofu. She is Mika’s daughter, and 1 and a half years old. The last ginger is Kiko, who is 9 months old, and the one who often turns her head backward.
"She is also Mika’s daughter. They are crazy little dogs who are sassy and very cat-like. They are very talkative and have so much to say. They are small dogs with huge personalities."
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CJcg73tDp1T/]]
While the dogs are trained to sit for photographs, because Kiko is so young, she's taken do doing her own thing and "ruining" the photographs in the best way possible.
Meanwhile, Cora the two-legged dog has learned to bounce around:

"Kiko was a Covid puppy and was raised during the lockdown," Macpherson explained. "She was a singleton puppy, who had no littermates. So her company that she grew up with was the cats. Maybe that's why she's such a weird character."

The dogs aren't just related by blood, they are a family in the most literal sense too, and Macpherson said: "Since Finnish spitz are high-energy dogs, they need that exercise, or they'll be running mad at home."
The trio also have daily obedience training to ensure that they keep their paws in line.
"When I go to work, Kiko comes with me while the other dogs stay at home," Macpherson said. "They all usually sleep until I’m back from work, that’s when we go for our 2nd walk/hike."
