Brad Pitt's participation in a silent auction at Sean Penn's annual Haiti fundraiser in Los Angeles in January 2018 stirred some excitement. The Hollywood star placed a high-stakes bid of $120,000 to watch an episode of Game of Thrones with Emilia Clarke, but he was ultimately outbid.
The event, held at Milk Studios, was part of a larger charity effort to raise money for J/P HRO and disaster relief organizations. Despite his substantial offer, Pitt's bid was surpassed by another attendee who won the auction with a $160,000 pledge.
The auction began with a starting bid of $20,000, but it quickly escalated as attendees vied for the chance to share screen time with the Game of Thrones stars. Clarke, who was present at the gala, and her co-star Kit Harington, were seated at separate tables, adding an element of surprise to the bidding process.
At one point, the auctioneer jokingly called out, “Is the King of the North here?” in reference to Harington's beloved character, Jon Snow. However, Harington was momentarily absent, taking a break from the event. This allowed Pitt to increase his offer from $80,000 to $120,000 in an attempt to outdo his own bid.
The event was filled with high-profile figures, including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lena Dunham, and Leonardo DiCaprio, who was recognized for his climate change advocacy. DiCaprio used his platform during the gala to speak on the importance of combating climate change, particularly criticizing President Donald Trump's proposals to expand offshore drilling.
He quipped, per Variety, “Their denial of so much of the scientific proof and evidence belongs in ‘the Earth is flat’ chapter of human history,” drawing laughter from the audience.
The fundraising efforts for Haiti proved successful, raising over $3 million by the event’s midpoint, with more donations expected throughout the night. DiCaprio, always an active supporter of various causes, later participated in the art auction.
He bid $80,000 on a painting by Josh Smith, but was outbid by Clarke, who secured the artwork for $90,000. Interestingly, there was a second Smith painting available, allowing both DiCaprio and Clarke to walk away with pieces of art, each valued at a significant amount.
While Pitt's bid to watch Game of Thrones with Clarke drew attention, the competition at the auction was fierce, highlighting how deeply fans of the show are willing to invest in unique experiences with their favorite stars.
The silent auction, held during the gala for Haiti, proved to be a fun yet competitive way to raise funds for a good cause, blending the entertainment world with philanthropy in an unexpected way.

That's right - the prize was to watch an episode of the show with her - what did you think?

Emilia Clarke has made the stunning claim that Brad Pitt once big $120,000 to spend an evening with her watching Game Of Thrones.
We all dream of getting to hang out with our favorite celebrities and just pick their brains about the world they live in.
It would be untruthful to claim that we haven't imagined being best friends with some of the highest-profile people in the world, but rarely do these dreams become a reality.
Apparently, other celebrities also dream of being friends with celebrities, as evidenced by Brad Pitt after he offered a whopping amount of money to hang out with Emilia Clarke.
Watch the clip below:Speaking on the Graham Norton Show in the UK, the Game Of Thrones actress told the hilarious story of how the auction came to happen back in 2017.
There was this auction thing that happened," Emilia began. "They called me and were like do you want to auction something off like an experience… like watching the show [Game Of Thrones] with you."
Thinking nothing of it and wanting the help a charity, the actress agreed and it was only when the day came did she understand what she had gotten herself in for.
She turned up at the event in LA, which was hosted by Sean Penn, and she described it as like "the Oscars" with the star-studded attendees.
"I suddenly remember that I’d said I’d auction something off, so the fear grows,” Emilia revealed, as she went on: “I was petrified, absolutely petrified.”
Fearing that nobody would want to time with her, a friend at the same table led the bidding in order to get an evening with the former Khaleesi.
Though it would seem that the friend's good intentions backfired a touch, as they got into a bidding war with an unknown person across the room.
"I was like thanks very much, it’s very sweet and then someone else’s paddle went up on the other side of the room," Emilia went on.
"I didn’t really know and suddenly, it was becoming a bit of money," she continued. "I was thinking this is mental and then someone else said, it’s Brad Pitt and then I went lol. And then I look over to the room and Brad has his paddle up."
The Fight Club actor bid a whopping $120,000 to spend an evening with everyone's favorite mother of dragons, but alas it was to no avail.
The friend at her table won the bidding, and that seemed to be a disappointment to Emilia who looked like she wanted to spend the evening with Brad Pitt.
Who knows, maybe the pair can hang out in their spare time instead of an eye-watering amount of money needing to be spent.

On Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke portrays Daenerys Targaryen, an exiled heiress who transforms from a meek political pawn into a fierce, independent ruler. With the help of her formidable army of the Unsullied and three fire-breathing dragons, she becomes powerful enough to make a real stake for the coveted Iron Throne. The character is a fan favorite for her remarkable transformation, and steely resolve in a brutal patriarchal society.
But while Clarke was playing such a strong character, she "hardly felt like a conquering spirit," according to an article she penned for The New Yorker. In the piece, the 32-year-old reveals that she suffered two life-threatening brain aneurysms while filming early seasons of Game of Thrones. "Just when all my childhood dreams seemed to have come true, I nearly lost my mind and then my life," the actress recalls.
Clarke suffered the first aneurysm at the beginning of 2011, just after shooting season one. "I was terrified," she writes. "Terrified of the attention, terrified of a business I barely understood, terrified of trying to make good on the faith that the creators of Thrones had put in me.I felt, in every way, exposed. In the very first episode, I appeared naked, and, from that first press junket onward, I always got the same question: some variation of, 'You play such a strong woman, and yet you take off your clothes. Why?' In my head, I'd respond, 'How many men do I need to kill to prove myself?'"
In order to relieve the stress, she began working with a personal trainer. However, one day she suffered a terrible headache in the locker room, and felt unusually fatigued during exercises. "My trainer had me get into the plank position, and I immediately felt as though an elastic band were squeezing my brain. I tried to ignore the pain and push through it, but I just couldn’t."
"I told my trainer I had to take a break," she continued. "Somehow, almost crawling, I made it to the locker room. I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill. Meanwhile, the pain -- shooting, stabbing, constricting pain -- was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged."
A concerned woman in a neighboring stall came to Clarke's rescue, and she was rushed to the emergency room. After getting an MRI, she was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke. "I'd had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture," she explains. "As I later learned, about a third of SAH patients die immediately or soon thereafter. For the patients who do survive, urgent treatment is required to seal off the aneurysm, as there is a very high risk of a second, often fatal bleed. If I was to live and avoid terrible deficits, I would have to have urgent surgery. And, even then, there were no guarantees."
At 24 years old, Clarke secretly underwent brain surgery, then stayed in the hospital a month to recuperate. But while she was free to return to her daily life, the doctors warned her that another, smaller aneurysm on her brain could 'pop' at any time. After filming season 3 in 2013, Clarke underwent a second brain surgery, which did not go as planned, causing excruciating pain.
"The recovery was even more painful than it had been after the first surgery. I looked as though I had been through a war more gruesome than any that Daenerys experienced," she recalls. "I emerged from the operation with a drain coming out of my head. Bits of my skull had been replaced by titanium. These days, you can’t see the scar that curves from my scalp to my ear, but I didn’t know at first that it wouldn’t be visible."
Clarke spent another month in the hospital to recover, and during those dark days she nearly lost all hope. "I couldn’t look anyone in the eye," she writes. "There was terrible anxiety, panic attacks. I was raised never to say, 'It’s not fair'; I was taught to remember that there is always someone who is worse off than you. But, going through this experience for the second time, all hope receded. I felt like a shell of myself."
Thankfully, the actress rebounded, growing stronger and stronger just like her iconic character, the mother of dragons. At the time, the situation was gravely serious, but today she's able to joke about it: "There was, above all, the constant worry about cognitive or sensory losses," she writes. "Would it be concentration? Memory? Peripheral vision? Now I tell people that what it robbed me of is good taste in men." (From 2012 to 2013, Clarke dated Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. Burn, Seth!)

Last night the Academy Awards were broadcast on something called " live television," which is what people used to watch before the internet. Comedian Kevin Hart was originally hired to host, but got the boot after Twitter sleuths resurfaced his old homophobic tweets. For the first time in 30 years, the Oscars had no host, but it actually seemed to benefit the ceremony, which moved at a brisk pace.
The winners were varied, without any film in particular dominating the show. As always, there were many standout moments: Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's intimate performance of the Best Original Song, Shallow; Olivia Colman's breathless acceptance speech after winning Best Lead Actress; and Spike Lee's jubilant jump into Samuel L. Jackson's arms after winning Best Adapted Screenplay, the first Oscar of the 61-year-old filmmaker's career.

There were also some incredible moments backstage. Game of Thrones stars Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke reunited for a couple adorable photos that delighted fans. Momoa captioned the first photo, "So proud of you @emilia_clarke I love u with all my heart Aloha Drogo."
On the show, Momoa played fearsome Dothraki warrior Khal Drogo, who marries exiled heiress Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. Surprisingly, Drogo turns out to be a sensitive husband, and vows to help Dany reclaim the Iron Throne. But unfortunately, a festering wound and "treatment" from a resentful witch render him in a vegetative state. Dany smothers her lifeless lover out of pity, burns his body and steps into the blaze with three dragon eggs. Then the "Mother of Dragons" emerges from the flames, unscathed, with three baby dragons clinging to her smoldering body.

In the second photo, Momoa posed with his television wife and real-life wife, Lisa Bonet. He captioned the photo, "Me and my QUEENS." Momoa and Bonet got married in 2007 and have two children, a girl and a boy. On Game of Thrones, Daenerys and Drogo had only one child, Draego, who was stillborn. Also, Dany, as the Dothraki's khaleesi, had to eat an entire raw stallion's heart during her pregnancy. Bet you're glad you didn't have to do that, Lisa Bonet!

Although Momoa's character died in season one, he stopped by the Game of Thrones set last year for the eighth and final wrap party. On Instagram, Clarke shared a photo of Drogo holding her in a pose similar to the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing.
"This is the closest you’ll ever get to me attempting ‘that lift’ from dirty dancing," she wrote in the caption. "And yes, I have no idea I’m NOT being raised above his head. (Id like to take a moment to thank alcohol for giving me courage to attempt this. Ever.)" Then she added the adorable hashtags, "#nooneputsdrogointhecorner #imhavingthetimeofmylife #thankgodwegotthatmanonathrone [and] #mysunandstarsintheireyes.
The last season of Game of Thrones premieres in April. But Drogo and Dany's love lives forever.
