The life of the rich and famous is a mystery for us ordinary folk. Apart from the limited access we're given into their lives via tabloid articles and old school television shows such as Cribs, (those were the days, eh?) their lives are a veritable enigma that we imagine looks somewhat like this: fancy house, flashy car, killer wardrobe, and
extremely good-looking partner.
Case in point: Diddy purportedly wants to purchase the Carolina Panthers and hire
Colin Kaepernick as their quarterback. I mean, with money comes power, right?

However, Diddy's reasons are wholly honourable. The hip-hop mogul and entrepreneur who is also known as Sean Combs asserted on
Twitter today that he wanted to attempt to buy the Carolina Panthers. He also added that he wanted to possibly hire Colin Kaepernick, the out-of-work quarterback who caught the attention of headlines everywhere when he popularised the "take a knee" movement which aimed to raise awareness of racial justice.
And it's certainly come at the right time. The NFL team has been put up for sale as a result of damning allegations of misconduct against the owner, Jerry Richardson. Richardson has been slammed by claims of sexual harassment, including making sexually suggestive remarks, as well as using racist slurs.
In a series of Twitter and Instagram posts, Diddy professed his interest in purchasing the team. He said, "I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!" He then added, "There are no majority African American NFL owners. Let’s make history."

And in an ensuing Instagram video, Diddy made his stance on
Colin Kaepernick clear. He said, "I will be the best NFL owner that you can imagine".
"I will immediately address the Colin Kaepernick situation and put him in the running for next year’s starting quarterback," Combs continued.

This is not the first time Diddy has spoken out in support of Kaepernick and the "take a knee" movement. In a Twitter post made last month, he said that he was "inspired" by the quarterback.
He wrote:
"Thankful for this brother right here. Met with @Kaepernick7 the other day. I’m inspired by what he’s doing for our people. Times like this we need to be united. He’s out here changing the narrative representing this #BlackExcellence."

In another Twitter post, Diddy shared a picture of himself on field. He captioned it with a passionate call-to-arms, "ATTN all @NFL owners, it’s time for diversity!! It’s time for Black ownership!! The time is now. Let’s make it happen!!"

Quarterback Kaepernick has been unemployed since opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers back in March. In October he filed a grievance against the league, (which had been planning to drop him all along) asserting that they had colluded to attempt to keep him off the field.
Diddy, however, has vowed to correct all this, if Kaepernick is up for it. "It’s just competition, baby," Diddy said. "It’s just competition."
