I can't remember my 12th birthday - which would've been in 2005 - but I'm pretty sure it went something like this: I woke up in the morning, opened my presents in a flurry of excitement, probably got an Xbox game or two, went off to school, came home, ate cake, played the game, fell asleep. I more than likely had some sort of party on the weekend, but even then, it would've been relatively low-key, like a trip to the cinema or a Pizza Hut lunch party. However, while I enjoyed my 12th birthday in modest style, the same can't be said for some kids.
Some kids have absolutely nuts birthday parties. I remember being in school and one guy hired out a whole indoor playground for the day, with food included. Or, one year, some kid hired the sports pitches at our local leisure center for us all to play soccer in and we had unlimited amounts of soda and chips. But while these parties were what you would expect from a luxurious twelfth birthday, one dad had different ideas for his son.
When your kid is 12-years-old, they're getting right on the cusp of losing their innocence. As a child, the world seems like a wonderful place, full of loving people and little responsibility, but as a teenager the reality is much different. Once you hit the teens, hormones become a thing, puberty hits you like a wrecking ball and through the likes of
pornography and a variety of different sources, your mind begins its journey into the distorted, dark and miserable place that it is when you become an adult.
I imagine that as a
parent, you would try and preserve this innocence in your child, holding on to every last strand of hope that you can, right? Well, not for one dad. According to reports coming out of Spain, one dad - who is a millionaire - saw his son's twelfth birthday party as the perfect occasion to pollute his young mind. Instead of booking him a night of bowling or hiring out a screen at a cinema, he decided to hire a bunch of strippers to perform a lap dance on his son.
Not content with simply embarrassing his son in front of guests at the party, the dad seems to be reveling in the action and can be seen beaming throughout the whole ordeal.
Understandably, the kid seems to initially be a bit intimidated by the whole thing, but within a matter of seconds, his innocence is corrupted and he begins to enjoy himself and starts to grab and dance with the women. The controversial method of parenting has come under scrutiny online, with plenty of people asking if it would be as funny if it was a young girl with male strippers, branding the father irresponsible and a bully.
Whatever you think of the dad's actions, it's safe to say that his son won't be forgetting his twelfth birthday anytime soon.
