There are few more instantly recognisable faces in the world than that of Emiem.
The rapper from Detroit has become synonymous with modern culture through this dizzying array of acerbic verses and ingenious rhymes. Never one to shy away from polarising opinion and potenitally offensive subject matters of the course of his career, Eminem has appeared to court controversy at times, though his prodigious skill as a rapper and virtually unparalleled ability with words has built him a fiercely loyal - and extremely large - fan base. In fact, some of Eminem's verses are almost as well known as he is. Memorable lyrics like his emotionally charged "Mockingbird", the decidedly more business-like "Business" and, more recently, the nostalgic "Not Afraid" are certain to be rapped along to at any social gathering, and many dedicated fans seem to know every lyric to every song off by heart. Perhaps that is why, when the great man himself occasionally - very occasionally - trips over his words, it is highly likely that people will notice. After all, they're probably still spitting the bars themselves. That is exactly what happened at a recent Eminem gig on Thursday night at Scotland's Bellahouston Park, with a reported 35,000 fans in attendance. Eminem was performing one of his most lauded and well known songs, Stan, when he appeared to stumble over a couple of the lyrics, in a rare mistake. He does subsequently recover his flow, though, and continues to perform one of the famous verses in full. And I just want to take this moment right now to say mother**** Donald Trump", reports Billboard. Eminem then launched into his politically charged anthem White America. President Trump's support has continued to wane in recent weeks, in particular after his ostensible failure to condemn members of the so called alt right, in the wake of troubling scenes in Charlottesville. Eminem, meanwhile, has reportedly been back in the studio working on a new album, which NME has suggested could be released in Autumn. Last month, Allen Hughes, who has directed a documentary on Dr Dre, appeared to confirm that a new album was in the works; “Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music.” Fans will be hoping that Eminem can match the dizzy heights of Stan on his new album.
