Annie Wersching, who starred in 24, The Last Of Us, and The Rookie, has sadly died at just 45 years of age.

Wersching died on Sunday morning (January 29) following a battle with an unspecified type of cancer. As per Deadline, she was diagnosed in 2020 but kept working.

The actress is most famous for her role as Renee Walker in the crime series 24, and for voicing the character of Tess in the video game The Last Of Us which has recently been made into a hit TV series by HBO.

Wersching recently played the role of the Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard, which follows the much-loved titular character after the events of the Star Trek franchise.

In a statement released to the press, via Sky News, Wersching's husband Stephen with whom she had three children, described the tragic loss the family has experienced.

"There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today," he said. "But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment.

"She didn't require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. 'Go find it. It's everywhere.' And find it we shall.

"As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye, my Buddie. 'I love you little family…'"
