Aaron Carter has been cremated, but his cause of death is still to be revealed.
The late singer passed away on November 5 and has since been cremated, as revealed by his death certificate - obtained by TMZ.
Carter, 34, was the younger brother of Nick Carter, 42, who is a member of the vocal group Backstreet Boys.
TMZ reported that Carter's housesitter found him in his bathtub at his house in Lancaster, California.
His death certificate has revealed that the singer's ashes will be held by his sister, Angel, and the family will make further plans for them in due course.
The document does not reveal the cause of death as more tests are needed to determine what exactly took the 34-year-old's life.
His profession is listed as a musician, and he had no spouse. His mother Jane is listed as the informant.
Law enforcement officials told TMZ that homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene, which is part of standard procedure. As they arrived, they reportedly found cans of compressed air as well as bottles of prescription pills.
A representative of Carter told Page Six: “Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life in recovery, to be a good father and to make amends with his family.”
Carter had checked himself into a rehab facility for a fifth time in September in a bid to regain custody of his 10-month-old son, Prince, per the Los Angeles Times.
The late singer launched his music career in 1997 at the age of nine, and in 2000 his second album, Aaron's Party (Come Get It), sold three million copies in the United States and reached number four in the US album charts.
The then-teenager's fame would see him land acting roles in shows such as Lizzie McGuire and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
His third studio album, Oh Aaron, would go platinum in 2001, and after he released Another Earthquake! the following year, he would go on to take a break from recording studio albums for 16 years.
He would return in 2018 with a fifth and final album entitled Love. The singer sold more than 10 million albums worldwide throughout his career.
