.Fans of Aaron Carter were left upset after seeing that the late singer was left out of the 'In Memoriam' segment at Sunday night's Grammys.

The 'I Want Candy' star died on November 5, 2022, at the age of 34, after being found in the bathtub at his home in California.

The Grammys traditionally honors all the recording artists who have died in the previous year in a special segment, with performances from from Sheryl Crowe, Kacey Musgraves and Quavo, who paid their respects to those that have died.

Among those named in this year's tribute were Lisa Marie Presley, Olivia Newton-John, Loretta Lynn, Christine McVie, and Naomi Judd, as well as others, however, Carter was notably absent from this year's tribute.

The 'In Memoriam' segment of the 65th Grammy Awards was a lengthy and emotional tribute, with rapper Quavo honoring fellow Migos member Takeoff after the 28-year-old was fatally shot in November, while Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and Mick Fleetwood played 'Songbird' in memory of Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie, who died in November following a short illness.

Loretta Lynn was also remembered by Kacey Musgraves, who played a cover of her song 'Coal Miner's Daughter' after the country star's death at the age of 90 in October.

Other stars from the industry were also remembered with their likeness and name flashing up on screen - however, Carter's fans were outraged to see he had been missed from the list.

One wrote: "since @RecordingAcad didn’t, i will: in memoriam of aaron carter - you deserved more. more recognition, love & time. thank you for the music that got me through my childhood, shaped me as a person & why i wanted to work in music. i forever love you. #aaroncarter #GRAMMYs."

Others added: "Since the Grammys chose not include Aaron Carter’s picture while tributing the passed away singers. I’ll just post my own mini tribute because that’s so sad. Rest In Peace Aaron Carter #Grammys2023."

Another commented: "Why the heck wasn’t Aaron carter included in the memoriam part of the #GRAMMYs ??? That was cold."

One pointed out that while Carter wasn't shown on the screen, he was included in the programme, adding: "For those asking, though we may not have seen Aaron Carter in the In Memoriam segment on the #GRAMMYs, but his name was put in the official #Grammys program book."

Carter never won or was nominated for a Grammy for his music during his lifetime, but was still a fan favorite after hitting the charts as a child star.

He found fame at the age of nine, signing a recording contract in 1997 after opening for his older brother Nick Carter's band, The Backstreet Boys.

He released five albums over the course of his career, with the most recent - Blacklisted - being released just two days before his death.

Melanie Martin, the mother of Carter's son Prince, told TMZ that she was "baffled" that he was left out by The Academy, and that he wanted nothing more than for his music to be recognized.

She added that it was a "slap in the face to his legacy and his son", per the outlet, and hopes that they will make it up to him another way.

A representative for his brother, Nick Carter, added to the New York Post that it was "so sad" that the star was left out of the segment.

Carter was found dead in the bath at his home in November and the singer's official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, pending toxicology tests.
