Adele has responded to claims that she was appropriating Black culture after posting a picture of herself lamenting the fact that London's Nottinghill Carnival isn't taking place this year.
In the snap, which shows off the singer's impressive seven stone weight loss, she can be seen wearing a Jamaican flag print bikini and her hair in Bantu knots, a traditional African hairstyle.
The 32-year-old captioned the picture: "Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London."
However, it wasn't long before she was slammed for allegedly appropriating black culture on social media.
One Twitter user wrote: "Adele dropped that weight and said it's time for her cultural appropriation era."
"Dear white people, please just be yourselves and stop it for good with cultural appropriation. Adele the bantu knots were unnecessary. The Jamaican flag bikini top was unnecessary... Please just stop it," another wrote.
Ernest Owens added: "If 2020 couldn't get any more bizarre, Adele is giving us Bantu knots and cultural appropriation that nobody asked for. This officially marks all of the top white women in pop as problematic. Hate to see it."
Now, Adele has responded to the backlash by poking fun at it in the comments section of an Instagram live video featuring duo Brandy and Monica. In the comment, Adele typed in Patois - the main language used on the Caribbean island.
She wrote: "Wah Gwaan! Yow gyal, yuh look good enuh" (which essentially translates to: "What's up? You look good girl").

The singer's response comes after a number of celebrities also defended her against the accusations including British-Jamaican, David Lammy.
Taking to Twitter, he shared an article about the accusations and wrote: "Poppycock! This humbug totally misses the spirit of Notting Hill Carnival and the tradition of “'dress up' or “'masquerade' Adele was born and raised in Tottenham she gets it more than most. Thank you Adele. Forget the Haters."
Other British-Jamaicans including Naomi Campbell and singer Alexandra Burke also saw nothing wrong with Adele's choice of carnival wear and they all supported her in the comments section of her original picture.
