Alec Baldwin says 'not a day goes by' that he doesn’t think of Halyna Hutchins
Alec Baldwin has shared a festive message thanking his fans for their well-wishes but says Halyna Hutchins's death is "never going to be behind us".
The 63-year old actor said he feels "lucky" to be at home with his family at Christmas and spoke of a "really tough" period following the horrific ordeal on the set of Rust.
On October 21, while rehearsing for a scene on set in Santa Fe, Baldwin was handed a gun by the assistant director and held it up at the camera.
The shot accidentally killed 42-year-old cinematographer Hutchins and injured 48-year-old director Joel Souza.
According to a search warrant affidavit, the assistant director shouted "cold gun" before handing Baldwin the gun and was unaware that the weapon was loaded with live rounds.
Baldwin thanked his followers for their "best wishes and strength" in the three-minute address.
"I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of the people who sent me such kind words and best wishes and strength and hope and prayers and so forth," he says in the clip.
"I got hundreds of emails from friends and family and colleagues and people that I haven't heard from in quite a while to send me strength and good wishes. I am very grateful for that," he added.
Referencing the shooting incident, Baldwin continues: "I am looking forward to some aspects of this being behind me.
"For everyone who is involved in this, it's never going to be behind us because somebody died so tragically and I never lose sight of that, not a day goes by that I don't think about that.
"All I care about is my wife and my kids and just trying to move forward with my life and trying to get through a tough time, a really tough time."
"Wear a mask, get the booster. Don't let Santa Claus down the chimney without a mask," the actor ended the video.
It comes as investigators with the Santa Fe Police Department obtained the search warrant on Thursday, December 16, which authorizes them to seize Baldwin's cellphone as part of their investigation.
The department is seeking to review text messages, photos, and stored locations on Baldwin's iPhone as they investigate Hutchins's death.
