Amanda Bynes has spoken out after her nearly nine-year-long conservatorship final came to an end on Tuesday.
In a statement shared exclusively with People, the former actor thanked fans and family members for standing by her while she worked to improve her health.
After rising to fame as a child star in All That and The Amanda Show, Bynes went on to become one of the biggest actresses of the noughties, appearing in teen dramas She's The Man, Hairspray, and What A Girl Wants.
However, the actress became embroiled in legal troubles and suffered substance abuse issues. In 2013, she was formally placed in conservatorship under her parents Lynn and Rick Bynes, per Today.
Bynes' conservatorship was terminated by Judge Roger L. Lund at a hearing on Tuesday, during which he congratulated her and wished her "good luck", saying: "The conservatorship is no longer needed or required. She has done everything the court has asked."
"Following today's decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time. I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years," said Bynes, 35, through her lawyer David A. Esquibias.
She went on to talk about what the future might hold, saying:
"In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter.
"I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can."
Since being placed in her conservatorship, Bynes has been living out of the spotlight and taking steps towards independence.
Over the past few years' she had come a long way from the troubled young star many fans remember. As well as finishing her degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Bynes has also relocated to L.A. to move in with her fiancé Paul Michael.
She formally filed to end her conservatorship in February this year.
