A Saudi man appears to have asked for Amber Heard's hand in marriage.
His apparent proposal comes after jurors sided against the Aquaman actor in her high-profile defamation trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The celebrity exes spent six weeks battling it out in Fairfax County Court, Virginia, after Depp sued his former spouse over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed the be a victim of domestic abuse.
Despite telling the court about multiple occasions when she claims Depp was physically abusive towards her, Heard lost the multi-million dollar trial and was ordered to pay the Pirates of the Caribbean star over $10 million in damages.
While the loss was no doubt a blow to Heard, it has piqued one man's interest in her. In fact, the unidentified suitor was so intrigued by her that he offered her his hand in marriage in a very brash Instagram DM.
In a post that has since been widely shared on Instagram, a screenshot shows that the man sent Heard's official account a private voice recording in which he makes his proposal.
Speaking only in Arabic, he points out that everyone hates Heard, tells her he thinks they should wed, and blasts Depp as an "old man" for good measure.
"Amber, since all doors are closing on you, you have no one except me to take care of you. I’ve noticed that some people hate and bully you, therefore, I decided to marry you. May Allah bless us both. You are a blessing, but people don’t appreciate that. I am better than that old man," he purportedly said, according to a rough translation.
Heard is yet to acknowledge the unexpected marriage proposal.
Ever since the jury's ruling was handed down last week, the actor has been keeping a low profile, taking to Instagram only to express her disappointment in the verdict.
"The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my ex-husband," she wrote.
"I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously," the star added.
