American Horror Story actor Harry Hains has died at the age of 27.
The news was broken by the Australian actor's family. The 27-year-old's mother Jane Badler announced that her son had passed away on Instagram. She did not, however, reveal the cause of death.
She wrote: "He was 27 and had the world at his feet. But sadly he struggled with mental illness and addiction."
"A brilliant spark shone bright too short a time... I will miss you Harry every day of my life."
Hains appeared in American Horror Story: Hotel, which aired in 2015, and played a character called Boy in an episode called Devil's Night.
However, this was far from his only notable acting credit. He also appeared in Netflix's The OA, the Amazon series, and A Haunting at Silver Falls: The Return.
Outside the realm of acting, he was the star of a number of modeling campaigns and released music under the name ANTIBOY.
Hains' mother is also a singer and actress.
Hains identified as gender-fluid, and he opened up about this identity in an interview with Boys and Girls magazine in 2019: "I know that I am born male but I don't think I represent what it means to be a man.
"I believe we should be whatever we want. It gets kind of confusing when we start labeling ourselves so I try to stay away from labels.
"I grew up in Melbourne and I had a very open and accepting family. Dating someone of either sex didn’t make a difference to me. I always had in my head this idea that I don’t like labels, so I never had to define myself."
The 27-year-old's funeral will be held on Sunday (January 12) at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in Los Angeles.
